WCOOP season is upon us! Today, I’m pleased to announce the full WCOOP 2020 schedule and accompanying promotional activities. WCOOP 2020 will begin August 30 with the Main Events concluding on Wednesday, September 23.
Some highlights include:
- More than $80 million guaranteed
- 225 tournaments, of which 75 are non-NLHE variants†
- Three tiers: Low, Medium, and High
- Three tiers in NLHE and PLO Main Events (that’s right, we’ve added a $530 NLHE Main Event in 2020)
- New Sunday Slam events awarding entry to 2021 online events to each winner
- No official events starting on Fridays
- $1.5 million to be awarded in the WCOOP Sweepstakes*
- A daily cards-up livestream on the PokerStars Twitch channel featuring a variety of commentators
It has been a difficult year and with everything that is happening in the world, we are grateful that our players still take the time to play with us and we hope that we are providing an enjoyable and safe playing experience for our players.
Also, with many live poker events cancelled and people staying indoors, there has been an increase in online tournament activity this summer. Because those who compete in the WCOOP Player of the Series race will likely appreciate a break each week during the series, we will not run official WCOOP events on Fridays. Those who want to play on Fridays? Well, we’d like to run some special side events on these days.
Tell us in the comments, or on social media what you think is missing from the schedule or what you want more of. WCOOP is for the players, so make your voice heard!
Another new look for 2020 is the $1.5 million WCOOP Sweepstakes*. There’s no complicated list of rules: play WCOOP events and receive tickets to a daily prize draw. You’ll receive more tickets for playing higher stakes tournaments. Like an all-in shootout, you do not need to be present for the drawing, nor do you need to take any action to register yourself. Six players will receive entry to the $25K Super High Roller, and each day we run the drawing, three players will win a $5,200 Main Event seat. Simple.
In addition, there will be a $100K Player of the Series* race and due to popular demand, the Fast Track* will return for WCOOP, guaranteeing at least five $5,200 Main Event seats every day!
Though the team is extraordinarily busy putting the finishing touches on the tournaments themselves, we can’t wait to see what legendary moments WCOOP 2020 brings. 2020 has been a truly historic year in a lot of ways, but we hope WCOOP 2020 delivers the player experience we know you expect and deserve.
