Apparently there was something called the NBA finals on this weekend. For those who view such things favourably I suspect it was one of those highlights that bring a Christmassy feeling, albeit without the eggnog (there’s no eggnog in basketball, right?) For others, it could easily have been one of those things to draw interest from the field size of some of the big events of the weekend like the Sunday Millions. They needn’t have worried.
I suspect the reason for this is simple. Poker players, as well as being good multi-tablers, are good multi-taskers. What’s one more screen to the 27 you already have open for your Sunday grind?
Regardless, I’m not sure how big basketball is in Finland, but distractions across the Atlantic didn’t put off one of their number from playing and winning the Sunday Million.
Ironically Timonpoika’s win came after a heads up contest against NBA-slam of Lithuania (is basketball big in the Baltics?) and the $174,607 first prize could hardly be described as being on the small side. Martin Harris has the full story of his win, which you can read here.
Meanwhile there was a three-way deal in the Sunday Warm-Up, which was won by papan9_p$ for a score worth $66,665. No basketball references over there, but David Aydt has the full story on that one.
Here are those two box scores in full:
