Well, folks, it looks like summer has arrived.
As the PokerStars weekend majors chugged along, the live poker festivals around the world fired up for the summer fun. LAPT Brazil and Eureka Rozvadov both started up their Main Events. Meanwhile, the World Series of Poker continued in Las Vegas, and Team PokerStars Pro has already started making nose.
Most notably, Team Pro’s Vanessa Selbst won her third bracelet and more than $871,000 in Event #2 ($25,000 Mix-Max NLHE). It made her only the second woman to win three titles at the WSOP. She is now 21st in worldwide lifetime poker earnings, a benchmark she’s achieved before she’s even turned 30 years old.
Meanwhile, Team Pro Humberto Brenes has gone four-for-four in cashes so far at the WSOP. The Shark has now cashed in 76 total WSOP events over the course of his career. Only three people in WSOP history (Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel, and Men Nguyen) have more in-the-money finishes. This isn’t the kind of thing that gets widely mentioned, but WSOP veteran Nolan Dalla picked up on it immediately. He wrote this story about finding Brenes at the WSOP this year.
So, with that crazy weekend out of the way, we’re left to pick up the pieces and start again.
Here are all the big news stories from the past couple of days.
