UKIPT Killarney: Day 2 intro

June 25, 2010

Welcome back to day two of the PokerStars UKIPT Killarney tournament. Glastonbury starts in earnest today and we’re expecting a festival of poker at the Gleneagles Hotel. Of the 253 players who entered, 143 players return today. Lead acts currently include overnight chip leader Vinny Gavin (79,850) and Sean Molloy (77,350) both men hail from Galway and will be looking to follow in the footsteps of UKIPT Galway winner Padraig Parkinson and become the second Irish UKIPT winner on Irish soil. Leading the UK hunt for the first prize of €63,400 is Nathan Wilson (75,125) and hopes of a first female winner on the UKIPT are high with the experienced and dangerous Cat O’Neil sitting pretty on 64,650. Veteran artists looking for headline billing once more include Simon Trumper and Roy Brindley.

Some have come back short, others not so…

Trumper and Brindley will be wily enough to know that whilst you can’t win the tournament on day two, you can surely lose it and we’ve been told that players will provisionally play eight levels today. Blinds will start at 300/600/75 and for once we’re not expecting the usual day two opening level carnage as there’s still plenty of play to be had here in Killarney. The average stack is currently 26,725. Players are currently unbagging their chips and it looks like we’re going to start on time.
