Another eight tournaments played out on Saturday, the penultimate day of the 2021 Turbo Series at PokerStars. Here’s a full rundown of all the action heading into the final session.
Mike “SirWatts” Watson
Watson settles for 2nd: Every tournament series we see Canada’s Mike “SirWatts” Watson put up great results. The former PCA champ, Blowout Series victor and multiple ‘COOP winner is currently ranked fifth in the world (according to PocketFives) and he added some more points to his tally on Saturday finishing second in Event #117 – $530 NLHE for $29,565. It was Poland’s “Chrobson” who came out on top, overcoming the 449-player field to win $40,048 and their first Turbo Series title.
Ireland wins first title, denying Koplimaa: We can only imagine the whole of Ireland was cheering on Saturday as “Sullo88” won the country’s first title of the series, in the biggest event of the night no less. Sullo88 placed first out of 303 total entries in Event #120, the $1,050 PKO Daily Cooldown, banking $64,172 (including $39,226 in bounties). Estonia’s Markku “markovitsus” Koplimaa–an online crusher and winner of the record-breaking €1,100 EPT National for €585K in 2019–was the runner up, winning $32,843 including bounties. Meanwhile, Twitch star Benj “Spraggy” Spragg made a deep run in this one, ultimately falling in 21st for just shy of $2K.
