Team Pros invade PokerStars Home Games

Play With the Pros!

Oh, it sounds good, doesn’t it? It’s something quite special to tell your home game buddies, “We’re going to fill that empty seat tonight. Some guy named Danny Negreanu is coming over.” After all, who wouldn’t want a chance to take on one of the best?

The thing is, this actually happened recently, and Negreanu walked away with some of the PokerStars Home Game players’ money. He’s like that, I hear.

So it happened to the members of the Home Game known as Mean Streets of Marpole. Last week, club founder Jon Braun played in the Play With the Pros North America promotion and won the chance to have Kid Poker play in his PokerStars Home Game.

“When I called the rest of my friends, they couldn’t believe that we would be playing–just the twelve of us–with Negreanu. It took them a full night’s sleep,” Braun said. “Although I’ve won a decent amount of cash playing poker, this was something different to win. This is the first prize I would get to share with my friends and that’s what made it special.”

There was little question why Braun was so happy. Not only did he get the chance to impress his buddies a little bit, there was also $1,000 added to the prize pool in the Home Game tournament. Of course, there was also that little matter of Negreanu cashing in the tourney and winning $200. Nevertheless, the boys from Marpole had a good time.

“It’s an experience my friends and I won’t forget. We had a great time, laughing and fighting for the prize with Daniel,” Braun said. “We couldn’t have asked for a better poker personality to play in our game. He’s truly a good sport and a great player.”

The promotion is on-going. In the next few weeks, the likes of Barry Greenstein, Victor Ramdin, and world champion Jonathan Duhamel will be showing up at PokerStars Home Games.
