Tonight’s champion will get to hold on to that title for awhile. No, not just the normal seven days from Sunday to Sunday but instead since a little thing called the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) will be traveling through for the next three weeks the $500,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-Up will cede the floor to the bracelet chasers.

Only 450 players out of our starting 3,094 would carry some cash home tonight as a distinct lack of Red Spades showing up with dollar signs next to their place of finish. Team Pro Jason Mercier was tweeting about other successful night on twitter earlier almost made the cash here as well finishing in 537th place.

Down to hand-for-hand play with the blinds at 50K/100K ante 10K ozenc would raise it up to 225,000 as tunnny on the button would shove for 511,165. Folded back to ozenc holding big slick K♣A♠ to make the call. tunnny, who has a Super Tuesday victory from last year, needed a lot of luck to overcome with Q♥A♦. The closest the Canadian would get would be a flopped inside straight draw, because by the turn 10♥ K♠ A♥ K♦ 4♣ ozenc’s boat would lock up bubble boy honors for tunnny as the final table started up below:

Seat 1: J-Rod Fett (3603698 in chips)
Seat 2: NhFy (612134 in chips)
Seat 3: gipsy74 (2776348 in chips)
Seat 4: gmcrafter (1719084 in chips)
Seat 5: lukro8 (7492957 in chips)
Seat 6: J_soldier (1400759 in chips)
Seat 7: undaDISGUISE (8111536 in chips)
Seat 8: ozenc (4088079 in chips)
Seat 9: flopped6810 (1135405 in chips)

Getting the party started

Just three hands into the final table, the person who burst the bubble would also eliminate our first player from the final nine. With the blinds still at 50K/100K ante 10K J_solider thought the big blinds was sitting without any amno and shoved for 1.22 million from the small blind. But, ozenc came out firing and called with A♠Q♥. J_solider was trapped without any backup holding J♠A♣ as the board shot off five blanks 2♠ 6♦ K♣ 3♣ Q♦ to score the pot for ozenc as J_solider was sent home in ninth place ($4,950.40). J_solider’s second trip to the Sunday Warm-Up final table was not as lucrative as the first, after taking fifth for $39K in January last year.

flopped get flipped

Just seven hands later and ten hands into the final table another big pot ended with the population going down once again. The blinds moved up to 65K/130K ante 13K as flopped6810 shoved a short-stack of 819,405 from early position. Folded around to lukro8 in the small blind with pocket kings K♠K♦ lukro8 would re-raise to make sure undaDISGUISE did not want to play. undaDISGUISE folded as flopped6810 showed 9♠A♣. The underdog would find an open-ender after the turn, but nothing more 8♣ 8♦ 7♠ 6♠ Q♦ and flopped6810 claimed ($7,735.00). flopped6810 just cannot stay away from this tournament’s final table, after making an appearance here just last week taking home $44K in third place.

Dozen minus three

12 hands thus far and we would already be down to six players remaining. Check out the hand below as NhFy gets an extreme short-stack (270,134 chips) all-in and calls from gipsy74 and undaDISGUISE. By the end there is 6.5 million in the middle:

gipsy74: 6♣ 6♥
NhFy: Q♠ 9♥

The flopped set 6♦ J♥ 5♠ 2♥ 10♣ of gipsy74 would call undaDISGUISE’s turn check-raise all-in as gispy74 called for less and claimed the entire 6.5 million chip pot as NhFy took seventh place ($13,923.00). Certainly not NhFy’s first ride here as the SCOOP champion chopped up a $85K score here in January.

Not one to slow down

In 12 minutes nearly half of the Sunday Warm-up final table would be concentrating on other tournaments or perhaps a cold beer. With the blinds still at 65K/130K ante 13K and two hands after the massive three-way pot, gmcrafter would lead the betting by raising to 910,000 from the button as both lukro8 and undaDISGUISE called out of the blinds. 4♥7♥2♦ flop and gmcrafter led out all-in for 220,084 as both blinds called again. 6♥ and 10♦ were checked down. undaDISGUISE turned up a rivered pair of tens A♠10♠ as gmcrafter mucked away and collected $20,111.00 in sixth place as the SCOOP 2012 Event #32-H runner up claimed another big cash here at PokerStars.

J-Rod Fett would lead it off for 400,500 as lukro8 three-bet to 759,000 from the small blind. Back to J-Rod Fett holding 3♥A♦ and 3.8 million chips, the UK player shoved hoping to get a fold. Instead lukro8 made the call with pocket nines 9♣9♠ and watched the 6♠ 4♣ J♠ 3♦ 2♦ board carry those nines across the finish line for the huge 7.99 million chip pot as J-Rod Fett fly off to hunt for more bounties in fifth place ($26,490.82).

Ease into play

Our final four would play for a good length of time before one of them would succumb to the cards. With the blinds jacked up to 125K/250K ante 25K gipsy74 would break the silence with a shove for 3.08 million from the small blind as lukro8 drummed up the courage to call with A♥4♠. The 10♥K♣ of gipsy74 was slightly behind and stayed that way despite picking up a turned flush draw Q♥ Q♣ 2♣ 5♣ Q♠ gipsy74 failed to match up with the board and left tonight holding $35,581.00 in fourth place which matched gipsy74’s fourth place finish in this tournament last month.

Luck runs out

lukro8 would try pressing ozenc as the blinds moved up to 150K/300K ante 30K and went from big stack to no stack in three hands. First, after ozenc raised to 750,000 lukro8 tried a three-bet shove to scare off the opponent. Instead ozenc made the call with 7♣A♣ and got the hold against lukro8’s 9♥7♥ for a 13.3 million chip double-up. Two hands later lukro8 shoved from the button for 4.57 million as the nemesis ozenc awaited patiently with pocket fives 5♥5♦ to make the call. lukro8 was a heavy underdog once again holding 5♣A♦. No ace, no face on the 4♣ 8♣ 10♠ 8♥ 2♣ board as ozenc scooped up the rest of lukro8’s chips as the two-time SCOOP championtook third place ($51,360.40).

Incognito no longer

When you win a Sunday Major it is kind of hard to keep your name under wraps. For nearly 20 minutes undaDISGUISE and ozenc would lock heads in a great heads-up battle as ozenc, looking for a Sunday Warm-Up title to go with a SCOOP title earned last year, started off with a 17.4 million to 13.4 million chip lead then in a seven hand rush, undaDISGUISE would flip the chip lead 17.7 million to 13.1 million.

Then as the blinds moved up to 200K/400K ante 40K undaDISGUISE was looking to put it away after taking down a 10.9 million chip pot after notching a three-to-seven straight and getting paid but ozenc down to 5.7 million would double-up two hands later.

That would be the last stand for ozenc as four hands later both players would decide things preflop for a 21.5 million chip pot. Watch below as undaDISGUISE will need to used to getting a little more attention:

Jacks J♦J♣ of ozenc against the Q♥A♠ of undaDISGUISE and it looked to be going ozenc’s way after the turned 8♠10♠K♥4♠ but yet another spade hit the board 5♠ giving undaDISGUISE the nut flush and $97,153.12 as this week’s Sunday Warm-Up champion!
