It has been approximately a month since we launched Stars Rewards in Denmark and Italy. And in that time, more than 1,000,000 Chests have been opened with over 150 instant $1,000 or €1,000 top prizes.
On the eve of its global roll-out, I thought it was time to give you a wider update on our new loyalty program for PokerStars, PokerStars casino and BetStars, to address some of the most commonly asked questions in advance.
From reading comments on forums, speaking to our Customer Support team and conducting some in-depth one-on-one Skype interviews, we’ve gathered together the questions that keep cropping up. I’d like to take this opportunity to clarify those:
Will you lose your existing StarsCoin?
No. All players will keep their current StarsCoin and will continue to earn StarsCoin with the launch of Stars Rewards. The current terms and conditions will stay in place: you have six months to use your StarsCoin from the last day that you earned any reward points (previously VPP).
Is the number of Chests you can earn capped per day?
No. There is no limit to the number of Chests you can earn in a day or a session. After earning four chests in the same day, a player will be upgraded to the next tier of Chests, which include even greater rewards.
Will you be removing items in The Rewards Store (previously VIP Store) like Cash Rebates?
No. All existing rewards will be retained in the store and accessible as before using StarsCoin. Chests will award StarsCoin, as well as more personalised rewards such as tickets, bonuses and free bets. You can access the Rewards Store via MyStars.
What do boosts do?
You can speed-up your rewards progress with Boosts. They are available to everyone and double the amount of reward points accumulated. Once you complete your boost you’ll receive a new one eight hours later, so for players that want to maximize their rewards, boosts are a great way to get to your next Chest faster.
All companies face challenges when introducing changes to programs or products that have been in place for a long time. People tend to resist change at first and then adapt over time. It’s perfectly natural, especially when you consider that some of our players have been using our current program for over 10 years. We know it will take some time for players to adjust to the new program and fully understand all of the mechanics, but we are confident that it is the right change to make and the right program for the future. The engagement of our players in Denmark and Italy is in line with our expectations and, while it is still early, the first signs of customer engagement and reaction are very positive.
For Stars Rewards, this is only the beginning of the journey. We have many more exciting things planned that will enhance what is currently available and already well received by our players. I believe we can continue to improve the sense of progression to all of our players, provide more exciting animations, and offer many other perks to reward players for their loyalty. Our goal is to engage with all our players across our games and platforms by providing a unique and positive experience that will continue to make PokerStars and our sister brands the best and most thrilling place to play poker, casino or sports-betting, whether you are a frequent or occasional player.
