As we move towards the second weekend of Stadium Series, time to catch up on the big winners from Thursday’s heats…

STADIUM SERIES NEWS BULLETIN

Bow down to SirKingMitch: Mitch Johnson, of Derby in the UK, had a night to remember on Thursday when he became the latest Stadium Series high buy-in champion and recorded the largest online tournament score of his career. Playing as “sirkingmitch“, Johnson’s victory over a 468-strong field in the $1,050 buy-in Heat 12 earned him $89,248.90, more than four times his previous biggest online result. It also outstripped his largest live result, which came in a £1,000 buy-in event at Dusk Til Dawn in Nottingham. We’ve seen Johnson on the EPT as well, where he has cashed in Prague, Malta and Barcelona.

One more for UK & Brazil: The other two buy-in levels of Heat 12 also wrapped last night and ended in another victory for a UK-based player, plus a customary title for Brazil. “turuzzu_m” of the UK won the $109 buy-in event, beating a field of 2,578 entries, and earning $37,680.10. And the Brazilian winner was “du.aruera”, whose victory over 13,531 players in the $11 event earned $15,215 after a heads-up deal. Finland’s “Aarnilas”, beaten into second place, won $15,215.96.

Close again for Fintan: There was another deep Stadium Series run for Fintan “easywithaces” Hand in the $1,050 last night, but he fell short of the final table once again. Hand picked up $3,829 for his 25th place after what was another exception performance.

“Now that’s funny,” says Spraggy, with the straightest of straight faces. It certainly wasn’t funny for “miioxo”, who was Spraggy’s opponent:
