Seth Davies wins 11/24/15 Super Tuesday, beats Chris Hunichen heads-up for $87k

November 25, 2015

It was a cowboy victory for Seth “Setherson2” Davies.

Davies eliminated three players at the final table with pocket kings and when his heads-up opponent picked up a pair of kings, Davies woke up with aces.

While Davies got a good run of cards at the final table, it wasn’t an easy road to victory. A total of 516 players signed up for this week’s $1,050 Super Tuesday, including PokerStars pros Liv Boeree, Naoya Kihara, Jamie Staples and Jason Somerville.

Only 63 of those players cashed though. While those players were guaranteed a minimum of $2,270.40 from the $516,000 prize pool, they were battling for one of nine seats at the final table.

The final table

Seat 1: Schildy1984 (Austria) — 140,876
Seat 2: bartek901 (Mexico) — 326,689
Seat 3: Tomas “pablotenisis” Turbado (Mexico) — 331,557
Seat 4: DrTara1 (Colombia) — DrTara1
Seat 5: Seth “Sethereson2” Davies (Mexico) — 240,055
Seat 6: Peter “RcknTheSbrbs” Nigh (Costa Rica) — 191,832
Seat 7: Branimir “ThoNapalm” Barać (Croatia) — 606,774
Seat 8: Jason “jakoon1985” Koon (Canada) — 202,747
Seat 9: Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen (Costa Rica) — 248,695

Davies was the first at-risk player at the final table.

With 4,500/9,000 blinds and a 1,125 ante, Tomas “pablotenisis” Turbado raised to 9,000 from the hijack. Davies moved all-in for 139,540 from the button and Branimir “ThoNapalm” Barać called from the big blind.

Turbado folded and we had the first showdown of the final table.

Davies showed K♠Q♣ and Barać had a dominating A♣Q♥. It was a short-lived lead for Barać though. The flop came 4♦K♦3♥ and Davies doubled up with a pair of kings.

After doubling up, Davies dealt an elimination.

Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen raised to 21,110 from early position and Schildy1984 moved all-in for 97,252.

Davies re-raised all-in from the button and Hunichen let it go.

Schildy1984 showed A♥K♦ but Davies turned over K♥K♣.

The Q♣7♦6♣8♥4♠ board brought no help for Schildy1984 and the Austrian player was eliminated in 9th place.

Schildy1984 won $8,565.60 for the finish while Davies took over the tournament chip lead with 517,367.

Action folded to Peter “RcknTheSbrbs” Nigh the following hand and he called. Branimir “ThoNapalm” Barać moved all-in for 385,754 from the small blind and Jason “jakoon1985” called all-in from the big blind.

Nigh called all-in as well and there was a three-way showdown.

Nigh: A♠A♣
Barać: 2♦2♥
Koon: Q♠Q♣

Aces beat deuces but queens took the main pot.

The board came Q♥8♠10♣3♠8♥ and Koon chipped up to about 500,000 while Nigh dropped to 284,770 and Barać was left with just 80,532.

But Barać wasn’t the next to go.

Koon followed Davies’ suit and eliminated a player after surviving the chopping block himself.

Koon raised to 26,800 from under-the-gun and bartek901 moved all-in for 183,889 from middle position. Koon called when action folded back to him and showed 9♦9♥ to bartek901’s 8♣8♠.

The board ran 10♠4♥Q♦5♣3♠, bartek901 won $11,610.00 for the 8th place finish and Koon took over the lead with 674,950.

Four hands later, Nigh raised to 25,800 from middle position and Barać moved all-in for 46,282. Nigh called with 8♠8♥ and Barać showed a smaller pair with 4♦4♥. The board ran 5♦Q♦2♣J♥9♥ and Barać finished 7th for $16,770.

The tournament shrunk again a few hands later.

In that hand, Turbado called from the cutoff and Davies raised to 36,445 from the button. Action folded back to Turbado and he moved all-in for 263,606.

Davies called and showed another pair of kings with K♠K♥ while Turbado tabled 5♣5♠.

There was a J♦3♦10♥6♥K♦ board and another elimination.

Turbado got a $21,930.00 payday for his 6th place finish and Davies’s lead grew to 863,273.

Then Hunichen doubled up through Davies, eliminated a player and took the lead.

Hunichen raised to 28,990 from under-the-gun and Nigh moved all-in for 303,302 from the small blind.

Hunichen called with A♣A♥, the only hand better than Nigh’s K♦K♥. The board brought all low cards and Nigh’s cowboys lost the pot.

Nigh won $28,380 for finishing 5th and Hunichen took the lead with 805,002.

DrTara1 was the short stack with four players but Koon fell next after he lost a flip to Hunichen.

Koon called from the button and Hunichen raised to 57,770 from the small blind. DrTara1 folded from the big blind and Koon moved all-in. Hunichen called and showed A♣K♦ to Koon’s 10♠10♦.

The board ran 7♦5♣5♥A♦8♥ and Hunichen’s turned pair of aces took down the pot.

Koon won $40,248.00 for finishing 4th while Hunichen took a large lead with 1.5 million.

Davies was second in chips with about 800,000 while DrTara1 was left with just 260,585.

DrTara1’s chips didn’t last much longer.

Hunichen raised to 36,000 from under-the-gun and DrTara1 moved all-in for 330,085. Davies re-shoved and Hunichen folded.

Once again, Davies turned over a pair of kings.

DraTara1 showed A♣10♣ but Davies hit a set on the K♦7♠5♥10♠2♦ board.

For the 3rd place finish, DrTara1 won $52,890 while Davies chipped up to 1 million.

Players made a deal and then Davies took over the lead.

Hunichen got a pair of kings but unluckily for him, Davies picked up a pair of aces.

Davies raised to 50,000 from the button and Hunichen raised to 133,555. Davies re-raised to 274,445, Hunichen four-bet to 416,666 and Davies moved all-in. Hunichen called and turned over K♣K♦ to Davies’s A♣A♥.

The board came 3♥9♦3♠2♠2♣ and Davies doubled up to 2.3 million while Hunichen was left with 259,998.

Hunichen moved all-in three hands later with K♣Q♦ and Davies called with A♥5♣.

The final board of the tournament came J♦4♥5♥3♥6♦ and Davies won the Super Tuesday.

“i won a big one like that cant be mad haha,” Hunichen said. “gg.”

Hunichen won $83,037.36 for the runner-up finish while Davies took the title and $87,242.64.
