On Monday, May 20 at 16:00 ET SCOOP-45-L: $27 NL Hold’em [3-Max, Turbo, Progressive Knockout, Zoom], $100K Guaranteed ($19.64 + $4.91 + $2.45) kicked off, and players immediately flocked to the tables. In fact, 8,577 entrants joined the fray to more than double the $100k guarantee by creating a prize pool of $210,565.35.
Among the 1,067 players to get paid were Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer (323rd – $102.60 prize w/ $15.94 in bounties), “107ofClubs” (177th – $156.39 prize w/ $62.98 in bounties), Thiago “XTheDecanoX” Nishijima (146th – $174.75 prize w/ $47.54 in bounties), Randy “nanonoko” Lew (40th – $362.40 prize w/ $38.24 in bounties), and Jake Cody (19th – $619.26 prize w/ $60.04 in bounties).
Given it was a 3-max tournament, only a select few made it to the final table. Here’s a look at the triumvirate that managed to make it to the final table.
pLAYERsvk – 35,267,978
PlatoonXe – 29,942,432
bebina9 – 20,559,590
pLAYERsvk Goes From Chip Leader to Out in Third
Given the turbo nature of the tournament, the action was intense. “pLAYERsvk” went from the chip leader to second in chips, and that is when he got involved in a big hand against “PlatoonXe.” It happened in the 600,000/1,200,000/150,000 level when PlatoonXe (36,968,875) opened for 2.4 million from the button and pLAYERsvk (31,606,978) three-bet all in. PlatoonXe made the call and pLAYERsvk discovered the bad news.
pLAYERsvk needed a six, but he was left wanting as the board ran out an unhelpful 7♣9♥J♦4♣3♦. pLAYERsvk took home a $7,195.54 for finishing third, as well as $249.47 in bounties.
Heads-Up Play Lasts Just Six Hands
PlatoonXe began heads-up play holding 69,475,853 to “bebina9’s” 16,294.147. Six hands later it was all over. In what would be the final hand of the tournament, PlatoonXe (70,225,852) limped the button and then snap-called when bebina9 (15,544,147) moved all in.
bebina9 had picked a bad time to shove – he had just a 14.4% chance of surviving – and while he got a little help on the 7♦3♣8♦ flop, both the Q♦ turn and 3♠ river bricked. bebina9 finished as runner-up for $12,463.05 and $579.65 in bounties.
PlatoonXe, whose previous best cash on PokerStars was $809.62 for finishing ninth in The Bigger $11 on August 9, 2015, captured his first SCOOP title along with a $21,592.52 prize with $1,166.26 in bounties.
