SCOOP 2014: LexaLucky666 edges out EPT champion Zimnan ‘Zimmy86’ Ziyard to win Event #44-M [$1,050 NL Main Event]

The SCOOP Main Event is the pinnacle of this spectacular Spring festival of poker. This particular medium-sized Main Event featured a final table appearance for EPT Loutraki champion and WCOOP bracelet winner Zimnan ‘Zimmy86’ Ziyard. Only one player — LexaLucky666 — stood in Ziyard’s way from collecting his first SCOOP win. Alas, Ziyard was unable to overcome a 5-to-1 heads-up chip disadvantage and LexaLucky666 thwarted Ziyard’s quest at a SCOOP title. LexaLucky666 won the “medium” version of the SCOOP Main Event and stepped into the spotlight as the newly-crowned SCOOP champion.

SCOOP Event #44-M $1,050 NL Main Event attracted 4,047 runners. The prize pool swelled to $4,047,000, which obliterated the original guarantee of $2M. Only the top 540 places paid out, with $635,379.00 set aside for the eventual champ (which smashed the original $300K-to-first guarantee).

A slew of Team Poker Stars Pros took shot at a SCOOP title and winning the Main Event… Liv Boeree, Matthias De Meulder, Eugene Katchalov, Marcin Horecki, Angel Guillen, Victor Ramdin, Lex Veldhuis, Humberto Brenes, Natalie Hof, George Danzer, Ivan Demidov, Max Kyjov, David Williams, ElkY, Nacho Barbero, Leo Fernandez, Theo Jorgensen, Jan Heitmann, Andre Akkari, Christophe De Meduler, Joe Cada, Bryan Huang, Jonathan Duhamel, Jason Mercier, Pierre Neuville, and Johnny Lodden.

PokerStars Team Online grinding their way in this SCOOP “medium” Main Event included Ike Haxton, nkeyno, Baalim, Kanu7m, Jorj95, mement_mori, acoimbra, nanonoko, frosty012, and Pessagno.

Notable Team PokerStars Pros and Team Online who cashed in Event #44-M included Matthias De Meulder (155th), Marcin Horecki (322nd), Ike Haxton (360th), Eugene Katchalov (376th), and Angel Guillen (523rd).


Second place in Event #44-M for Loutraki EPT champion Zimnan ‘Zimmy86’ Ziyard

At the conclusion of Day 1, only 65 players were still in the hunt for a SCOOP Main Event title and €urop€an held the overall lead with 28M.

Day 2 began with a rapid onslaught of causalities in the opening level of action. The pace settled down with €urop€an maintaining the lead. With 18 to go on the final two tables, Zimmy86 seized the lead with 6.9M, with €urop€an and 1337Gambl0r nipping at his heals. With 13 to go, €urop€an regained the lead and surged over 10M when J♠J♥ held up against taktix907’s 10♦10♣.

On the final table bubble, action went hand-for-hand and Zimmy86 took advantage of the situation and amassed a stack over 14M. Shortstacked jayjay90 attempted to double up with K♠7♣, but lost to seonkett1’s A♣8♥. After jayjay90 bubbled off the final table in tenth place, the final table of nine was set.

The final table commenced during Level 42 with blinds at 100K/200K and a 25K ante. Zimmy86 sat atop the big stack with 13.7M. EPT Loutraki champion Zimnan “Zimmy86” Ziyard had previously won a WCOOP bracelet in 2013, but he was seeking his first SCOOP title.

1337Gambl0r eliminated in 9th place

1337Gambl0r min-raised to 500K, LexaLucky666 raised to 1,225,000, 1337Gambl0r shoved for 4,962,690, and LexaLucky666 called all-in. 1337Gambl0r took 9♥9♦ into battle against LexaLucky666’s 10♦10♥. The board finished up A♠Q♥4♣K♣2♣ and LexaLucky666 won the pot with a pair of tens. 1337Gambl0r failed to improve and became the first player to bust out at the final table. Ninth place paid out $32,376.00.

With 8 remaining, Zimmy86 continued to lead with 15.7M, while Andr the gun was the shorty with 861K.

marek_heinz opened to 1M, short-stacked Andr the gun called all-in for 549,252. Andr the gun was way behind with 6♣2♣ against marek_heinz’s A♣7♥. The board ran out J♦9♠8♣10♦3♠. marek_heinz flopped a straight draw and got there on the turn. Andr the gun failed to double up and went busto in eighth place, which paid out $50,587.50.

With seven to go, Zimmy86 retained the lead with 16.2M, while secky0222 was the short stack with 2.6M.

seonkett1 eliminated in 7th place

Zimmy86 min-raised to 600K, seonkett1 bombed it all-in for 8,022,272, marek_heinz re-shoved for 9,621,479, and Zimmy86 folded. Heads-up. Unfortunately, seonkett1 picked up 9♦9♠ only to get ambushed by marek_heinz’s K♠K♣. The board finished up 10♦4♥3♣6♣10♣ and marek_heinz won the pot with two pair — Kings and tens. seonkett1 was unable to fade an elimination and busted out in seventh place, which paid out $91,057.50.

With six remaining, marek_heinz seized the lead with 18.5M, while Zimmy86 sat in second with 14.8M, and Four-7-Kevin was the new short stack with 3.6M.

€urop€an eliminated in 6th place

LexaLucky666 min-raised to 600K, Zimmy86 bumped it up to 1.5M, €urop€an made it 3.3M to go, LexaLucky666 folded, Zimmy86 five-bet to 5.1M, and €urop€an called all-in for 81,362. Classic race: €urop€an’s J♠J♣ vs. Zimmy86’s A♦K♠. The board ran out 9♣7♠3♣A♣6♥. Zimmy86 turned a pair of Aces to take the lead, while €urop€an picked up a four-flush draw. Zimmy86 faded the flush and won the pot with a pair of Aces. Finland’s €urop€an was knocked out in 6th place, which paid out $131,527.50.

Four-7-Kevin eliminated in 5th place

Four-7-Kevin open shoved for 3,718,278 with A♠7♣ and LexaLucky666 called with A♥J♠. The board ran out Q♦9♦8♣6♣10♠. Both players improved to a straight but Four-7-Kevin lost with a ten-high straight versus LexaLucky666’s Queen-high place. For a fifth-place finish, Four-7-Kevin earned $171,997.50.

With four to go, marek_heinz led with 20.8M, LexaLucky666 sat in second with 16.4M, Zimmy86 slipped to third with 15.6M, and secky0222 trailed with 7.7M.

Short-stacked secky0222 made a valiant final stand with K♣6♠ against marek_heinz’s 9♥7♥. The board ran out Q♦8♦7♦4♦7♣. secky0222 turned a gutshot, but failed to get there on the river. marek_heinz rivered trip sevens to win the pot. secky0222 hit the virtual rail in fourth place, which paid out $232,702.50.

With three remaining, LexaLucky666 held a slim lead over marek_heinz — 23.9M to 23.3M — while Zimmy86 was the shorty with 13.6M.

Zimmy86 opened to 1M, marek_heinz bombed it all-in for 10,236,653, LexaLucky666 re-shoved for 19,473,306, and Zimmy86 bailed. Heads-up. LexaLucky666 led with A♠10♦ versus marek_heinz’s K♥Q♦. The board ran out J♦5♠3♣7♣J♣. Neither player improved, but LexaLucky666 won the pot with an Ace-kicker. For a third-place finish, marek_heinz earned $33,3877.50.

With two remaining, LexaLucky666 held approximately a 5-1 lead. Heads-up battle was a fast one. It only lasted five hands and Zimmy86 only won one of those.

On the final hand… Zimmy86 opened to 1,185,000, LexaLucky666 shoved for 53,061,846 with 9♠9♥ and Zimmy86 called all-in for 6,333,154 with 7♠7♥. The board ran out Q♠J♣2♦5♦3♣. LexaLucky666’s pocket nines held up and Zimmy86 busted out in second place.

For a gritty runner-up performance, Zimnan ‘Zimmy86’ Ziyard took home $473,499.00.
