Run dat Game pairs Warm-Up win with Super Tuesday title

November 14, 2012

It’s good to be Chris Lovett right now. Really, outstandingly, ridiculously good. On October 28, the man best known as ‘Run dat Game’ got the monkey off his back and nabbed a major online title, winning the Sunday Warm-Up for over $95,000. Seventeen days later, he has another one and for nearly as big a score. After an exhaustingly swingy final table that saw one player go from half a big blind to chip leader and back again, Run dat Game survived to ship the Super Tuesday, winning more than $94,000.

Dipping slightly from last week, 498 players turned out creating a $498,000 prize pool. 63 players earned a share of it with $94,620 set aside for first place. Red Spades Nacho Barbero, Caio Passagno, Vivian Im, and Liv Boeree all bought in, but only Johnny Lodden made the money, running his K♥J♠ into A♠A♥ to go out in 35th place.

Brazil’s xTheDecanox, a familiar face around the PokerStars tournament tables, found himself short-stacked on the final table bubble and ended up pushing in his last nine big blinds with 9♣9♠. Run dat Game looked him up with A♣10♠ in the big blind and promptly flopped an ace. xTheDecanox couldn’t pull off a two-out miracle and departed in tenth place, setting the final table.

Early exits
As the blinds rose to 3,200-6,400, short stack dani12011 dipped into the red zone. He staked his tournament life on A♥2♥, three-bet shoving for 64,113 from the big blind, but opening raiser 3aHocKanycmy turned up a quality hand with 10♥10♦. The board ran out queen-high and the tens held, ending dani12011’s run in ninth place.

One orbit later, stato_1 followed dani12011 to the rail. After lasagnaaammm opened for a min-raise to 12,800, stato_1 three-bet shoved for 141,520 from the small blind and th’Kick reshoved for 170,619 from the big. Lasagnaaammm high-tailed it out of there, leaving stato_1 ‘s J♠9♠ to face th’Kick’s A♥K♠. An ace hit the flop, a nine gave pause on the turn, but the river was a blacnk and stato_1 exited in eighth place, earning $11,205.00.

A few minutes later, lasagnaaammm four-bet shoved for 158,165 with A♦J♣, but ran into a dominating hand. Festivuss turned up A♥K♠ and it held up to eliminate lasagnaaammm in seventh place.

I’am_Sound’s huge rebound
Lasagnaaammm’s departure left Run dat Game as the most chip-challenged player on the table, but he quickly put an end to that situation. Run dat Game three-bet shoved for 223,472 with A♦9♠ and I’am_Sound reshoved for 484,144 with pocket eights in the big blind. Run dat Game hit an ace on the flop and doubled to 471,000, leaving I’am_Sound on 260,000.

I’am_Sound tried to move 3aHocKanycmy off his hand preflop, three-bet shoving with 3♠3♥, but got a call from A♦J♦ instead. An ace on the flop and another on the river left I’am_Sound crippled to only 5,400 in chips. They went in the middle with J♠]2♥ on the next hand against Festivuss’ J♥4♥, but both players rivered a king-high straight to split the pot. Now up to 12,000, I’am_Sound tripled to 39,000 on the next deal and doubled again to 70,000 a few hands later before shoving with pocket fours. Festivuss called with A♣8♠ and picked up an ace on the flop, but I’am_Sound hit running cards to make a wheel:

Back up to 188,000 with the blinds at 6,000-12,000, I’am_Sound’s rush wasn’t over yet. After Festivuss opened for a standard min-raise to 24,000, I’am_Sound shoved from the small blind with pocket sixes. Festivuss called with A♣J♥ but got no help from the board and I’am_Sound doubled yet again. Only fifteen minutes after being reduced to half a big blind, I’am_Sound was back in safer territory with 395,000.

Over an hour since lasagnaaammm hit the rail, six-handed play continued to drag on. I’am_Sound maintained his aggressive approach and went on to pick up a sizable pots from Festivuss and 3aHocKanycmy and moved into the chip lead with 637,000.

Festivuss felled
I’am_Sound chipped up as high as 726,000 before doubling up Run dat Game when his pocket jacks fell to A♥K♥. Festivuss made a trip to the Bank of Sound as well, doubling to 340,000 when his pocket sixes held against Q♦10♣. Despite the losses, I’am_Sound was still healthy with 452,000 in chips.

Festivuss, however, took a huge hit when his A♥10♦ ran into 3aHocKanycmy’s A♣Q♣. His stack below 100k, Festivuss open-shoved from the button with Q♠2♠, hoping to pick up a pot uncontested, but I’am_Sound looked him up with A♠6♥. Although Festivuss hit bottom two pair on the K♦Q♦2♦ flop, I’am_Sound hit running aces to end the six-way stalemate. Festivuss banked $21,165.00 for sixth place.

I’am_Sound goes quiet
After squirming out of that pot alive, I’am_Sound’s run-good took a turn for the worse. All his chips went in preflop with pocket threes, but 3aHocKanycmy’s A♠J♥ hit a jack on the flop to win an 850,000-chip race. I’am_Sound was left with 103,000 and although he managed to double up a few hands later, another mammoth comeback was not in the cards. The rest of I’am_Sound’s chips went in with K♦J♥ against 3aHocKanycmy’s A♠9♥ and an ace hit the turn, ending I’am_Sound’s rollercoaster run in fifth place.

th’Kick booted in fourth, dpeters17 takes third
Th’Kick spent most of this final table cruising in the middle of the pack, but when Run dat Game three-bet shoved for 449,935 over his 36,000 opening raise, th’Kick decided to go for it with A♦K♦. However, Run dat Game’s pocket tens went the distance, the board running out Q♠J♣8♦7♠8♣ to leave th’Kick on only 140,000. Although th’Kick doubled to 289,000 a few hands later, Run dat Game finished him off when his A♥8♦ flopped an ace against th’Kick’s Q♠J♣. For his fourth-place finish, th’Kick picked up $38,844.00.

Minutes later, dpeters17 decided to make a move with 2♥2♦ and three-bet shoved for 525,342 preflop, but 3aHocKanycmy snapped him off with A♥A♦. A king-high board gave 3aHocKanycmy the win and dpeters17 was out in third place, earning $51,045.00.

Heads-up chip counts
Seat 1: 3aHocKanycmy (955,304 in chips)
Seat 3: Run dat Game (1,534,696 in chips)

Heads-up play lasted all of ten hands, Run dat Game winning seven of them. 3aHocKanycmy tried to make something happen on a A♠6♥9♣7♠9♥ board, firing on all three streets, but Run dat Game called him down after flopping top pair with A♣5♠. Ultimately, all the marbles went in on a 5♦4♦4♠J♦ board, Run dat Game making the final raise. 3aHocKanycmy called off the rest of his chips with K♠K♣, but Run dat Game had turned his flush with Q♦9♦:
