It was a busy weekend in the poker world, particularly if your name began with the letter J. Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier whipped up a Twitter storm with an article he wrote for us about open-face Chinese poker, American grinder Jason Koon took down the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, and Jordan Scott came out on top at the LAPT Grand Final for $168,210. Expect next weekend to be fortuitous for Karls, Katherines, Kays, Kaileys, Kanes and Kaitos…
Jason Koon
Jordan Scott won the LAPT Grand Final in Lima, Peru for $168,210
Jason ‘jakoon1985’ Koon won the Sunday Warm-Up for $110,000. Koon’s a regular at big buy-in events and this score will no doubt give him more ammunition for events such as the PCA $25,000 High Roller, which he was over night chip leader of before finishing fourth for $271,950, the biggest live score of his life.
Another Jason, this time of the Team PokerStars Pro variety (Jason Mercier), talked about his new-found love of open-face Chinese poker. It was read and re-tweeted a lot.
Talking of love and all things nice and fluffy, fellow Team Pro Vicky Coren tied the knot at the weekend to British comedian David Mitchell.
And as if to celebrate that happy union tens of thousands of you logged on to play the MicroMillions III series. More than $3,000,000 has now been paid out as we’re on track to smash our $5,000,000 festival guarantee.
And if that wasn’t enough for you, take a look at the weekly tournaments to see which regs and have-a-go-heroes have been taking down all the other comps, such as the four grinders who all pocketed a six-figure score in the Sunday Million.
Mercier: loves mashing, basketball and open-face Chinese
