Tom Hall, 30, from Shrewsbury, is one of the UK’s most accomplished pros with live cashes approaching the $3 million mark and another million in profit online, where he plays under the alias “Jabracada”. His biggest single career score was worth close to $400,000 for fourth place in an event in Nottingham, in his native UK, and he won the €2K High Roller at Eureka Prague in 2016, for another $200,000. Listing his Sharkscope graph as the thing he is most proud of, Hall is an innovative and analytical player, often to be heard offering expert commentary on various live streams and podcasts.

He started playing more than 12 years ago, raiding the penny jar to get to know the basics of the game. It quickly became more than just a hobby or even a profession and he said: “Without poker I’m not sure where I would have been able to fit in in the world.”

He won his Platinum Pass this year via the Mega Path satellites online, after playing 87 of the Step 2 tournaments (at $2 each), three of the $50 Step 3 events and three of the $1K Step 4s. He described the Mega Path as “probably the best game PokerStars has on its schedule” — an assessment that will surely grow even more enthusiastic if he can put together a deep run in Barcelona in August.
