Jesper Hansen

Road to PSPC

At 59, Jesper Hansen will be a little older than the average player at the PSPC in August, but he’s been taking on the youngsters, while profiting from the elders, for more than a decade.

His first live cash dates from 2008, and he’s been playing online even longer, but now tends to focus more in the brick and mortar environment. He’s played on the EPT in both Prague and Barcelona — with the second venue very kind to him. In 2018 finished second in a senior’s event at Casino Barcelona for €43,795, his biggest live score, and he won his Platinum Pass in Catalonia too, when he came first in the Road to PSPC tournament in January.

That was a €200 buy-in tournament, drawing 613 players, and Hansen was one of three players who struck a deal when the tournament reached its conclusion. He won €14,150 in prize money, but then went on a run from third in chips to be last man standing, banking the Platinum Pass.

Hansen is originally from Denmark but now lives in Harrislee, Germany, where he is the CEO of a transport company. In addition to running the business, he also has six children so doesn’t have much free time. What he does have, he usually spends playing poker — something he’ll be doing even more of now in the run up to August’s big event.
