Road to PSPC - Le Havre
Emmanuel Briquet won the “all-in shootout” (or flip-out) at the Road to PSPC event in Le Havre in January, booking his seat at the PSPC amid a flurry of excitement and chaos. The 50-year-old from Pringy dans la Marne, about 200km east of Paris, works in manufacturing, specifically responsible for shipping cornmeal for Corn Flakes and beer. He lists fishing as his main hobby when he’s not playing poker, but will know that he’ll be swimming in shark-infested waters when he travels to Barcelona in August.
A friend, who was a regular on PokerStars, introduced Briquet to poker about three years ago, and he’s been a keen player online and live ever since. Briquet says his biggest win was a €4,600 score on PokerStars, where he plays as “bitosss”, but knows he has the chance for a much biggest payday at the PSPC.
“I can’t believe it,” he said. “My legs are like jelly. I told my friends via SMS and nobody believes me.”
Briquet added that he’ll hit up a friend who plays major tournaments in Paris for some tutorials in etiquette and strategy ahead of the big event. “Here I really am,” he said.
