Online poker’s biggest winner takes down Sunday HR

October 26, 2020inPoker

The Sunday HR is fast becoming one of the richest weekly tournaments on the web. It’s garauntee has recently been boosted to $250k, with the top prize hitting well over $40k.

With a $1,050 buy-in, this isn’t an event for the feint-hearted (although buy-ins for satellites start at $55 if anyone fancies a pop). Most of the field are hardened pros, playing at stakes that would make most of us run a hot bath in advance.

As such, it’s not unusual to see the top names in poker on the tables of the Sunday HR. Last week, Christopher Oliver and VladTheSlaye split the top prize. This week, Sweden’s top pro and online poker’s top earner Niklas “Lena900” Astedt claimed the win.

Astedt’s leaderboard rival Yuri “theNERDguy” Martins also made the final table, but crashed out in seventh place.

In the end, Astedt’s heads-up opponent was Benjamin “BC1989RF” Chalot, himself a very capable player who’s victories include a $90k Stadium Series Heat win and $50k SCOOP title, both this year.

Chalot is also a regular in the High Roller Club, so is well accustomed to playing huge games against big names. Still, he must have felt like he was staring down the barrel when he found himself heads-up against one of the poker world’s most feared opponents.

Chalot had to settle for second, with nothing but a comforting $36,522 to get over it. Astedt claimed first prize for an impressive $48,071. We’ve got a feeling it won’t be the last time we’ll see Astedt battle it out for first in the Sunday HR…
