PokerStars LIVE Macau will be hosting the 28th installment of the Macau Poker Cup (MPC28) from January 26 to February 11.
MPC28 will once again feature the legendary HK$15,000 Red Dragon Main Event which comes with a massive HK$10 million prize pool guarantee. Last September, the Macau Poker Cup festival attracted record totals of 6,921 entrants and awarded nearly HK$68 million (USD $8.8m) in prize money.
If you’re somehow on the fence about playing in the 17-day action packed tournament series then you should know that we’ll be giving away four Platinum Series packages each worth USD $30,000!
What is this Platinum Pass you may ask?
In January 2019, the PCA will be hosting the USD $25,000 buy-in PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship (PSPC) and it’s sure to be the biggest of its kind. More than 300 Platinum Passes will be given throughout the year and the package includes the 25K Main Event buy-in, six nights’ accommodation at Atlantis Resort, and USD $2,000 in travel and on-site expenses.

Above are the player numbers for the last four Baby Dragon events. The growth has been nothing short of incredible and its anyone’s guess as to what the final tally will be when MPC28 rolls around.
▪ FEBRUARY 4-9: $15,000 Red Dragon ($10 Million Guarantee)
The Red Dragon is the largest freezeout in the Asia Pacific and the previous installment attracted a record 1,308 players and more than HK$17 million in prize money! China’s Qiuming Qin (pictured) is largely expected to return to defend his title.
▪ FEBRUARY 8-10: $25,000 NLH ($3 Million Guarantee)
It was hard to decide as to which of these next two popular events should award a Platinum Pass so the good folks at PokerStars said, “Give it to both!” and here we are.
Only new arrivals need the prize pool guarantee to attract them. If you’re a veteran on the PokerStars Asia circuit then you already know the last 25K NLH event had 306 and a HK$6.8 prize pool.
▪ FEBRUARY 9-10: $80,000 High Roller (Shot Clock, Unlimited Re-Entries)
The official High Roller of the Macau Poker Cup regularly gets over 100 entries and it’s only a matter of time before we’ll be having conversations about 200 runners.
