March 13, 2017

More than €30 million in prize money up for grabs at PokerStars Championship Presented by Monte-Carlo Casino®

If there’s a PokerStars destination that heralds the arrival of warmer, brighter times, it’s the French Riviera, and this year there’s even more reason to head to Monaco. The PokerStars Championship presented by Monte-Carlo Casino® (to use its official name), will this year boast even more features to put a spring in the step of any player.

First the basics

There are 71 events on the Monaco schedule, with more than €30 million in prize money expected to be paid out between April 25 and May 5, 2017. You can find more details on the PokerStars Championship homepage.

Of that some €2.5 million comes guaranteed, with €1 million alone in place for the €1,100 PokerStars National Championship (formerly the France Poker Series). In addition there is the usual variety of high rollers, lower buy-in and re-entry events, with deep stack formats and longer registration times ensuring there’s an event to suit everyone.

“This season’s PokerStars Championship in Monte Carlo promises the ultimate and complete gaming experience, and not just for those who are regular travellers to the home of the Grand Prix for poker action, but for every kind of player looking for a memorable poker experience,” said Edgar Stuchly, PokerStars Director of Live Events.

“While our Championship events attract some of the best players in the world, this event will see a wide range of tournaments on offer for players of all levels, giving everyone a chance to compete. Players can qualify now at PokerStars from just €2.20, and soon there will also be packages worth over €8,500 up for grabs in special edition Spin & Go tournaments. We look forward to seeing thousands of players at our first Championship stop in Monte Carlo.”

Your route to Monte Carlo

The following might sound familiar. Satellites to the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo Main Event and the PokerStars National Championship are currently running on PokerStars. On March 19 there is a 20-packages-guaranteed satellite to the PokerStars Championship Main Event (each package worth €8,500) and a 10-packages-guaranteed satellite to the PokerStars National Championship (each package worth €2,500), followed by a 25-packages-guaranteed satellite to the Main Event and a 10-packages-guaranteed satellite to the National Championship on April 2.

From March 14 to April 10, you also have the opportunity to turn €10 into a PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo package worth more than €8,500, by playing fast-paced, special edition Spin & Go tournaments on PokerStars.

PokerStars is also offering a live 30-seat-guaranteed mega qualifier to the PokerStars Championship Main Event and a 50-seat-guaranteed live satellite for the €1 million guaranteed National Championship during the event. Both will take place at the Monte-Carlo Casino on April 25 at 4pm.

But there’s more to take advantage of this year. For instance…

The early bird special

Take advantage of this great offer and save 33 per cent on accommodation (more than €900) at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort, a promotion which runs from today until March 20. Seriously, act quick on this as it’s only open to the first 50 players.

Flip outs

Don’t miss out on another promotion. If you buy your seat for the PokerStars National Championship or the PokerStars Championship Main Event using your PSLive balance before April 1, you’ll be eligible to take part in a Live Freeroll FLIPOUT event with two seats offered by PokerStars. This special event will be organised at 11:30 on Day1A.

Last longer

Any player taking part in the PokerStars sponsored National Championship, who has previously won an FPS Main Event tournament in the past, will automatically be part of a special PokerStars Last Longer where the final FPS winner standing will win a €1,100 PokerStars Live Event credit.

In addition, European Poker Tour Main Event title holders playing the Main Event will also automatically be part of a special Last Longer where the last remaining EPT winner will win a €5,300 PokerStars Live Event credit.

Entertainment away from the tables

As far as fun goes at a PokerStars event, few things match actually winning a tournament. But there’s plenty taking place off the tables to make this a memorable trip. Starting with the Player Party, this year hosted by the Blue Gin Bar on April 29, from 9pm. They’ll also be the usual assortment of #StarsFun activities and competitions, including the daily virtual reality high score leader board.

And, if you prefer your fun to be strictly of the poker variety, the cash game room, staffed by experienced dealers, will be running 18 hours a day.
