Team PokerStars Pro have completed an epic one, two, three at the top of the Global Poker Index (GPI) with tournament titans Jason Mercier (1st), Betrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier (2nd) and Vanessa Selbst (3rd) this week claiming podium positions. Mercier cashed six times at this year’s WSOP making one final table and narrowly missing out on two more, but as the winner of the inaugural EPT Champion of Champions tournament he’s used to being crowned best of the best. Mercier has won $7,852,900 in live tournaments alone.
While the highly rated Mercier sits atop the leader board at the moment, the Floridian and ElkY have frequently traded the top spot but Selbst’s third place position is her highest ever ranking, pushing her up from eighth place. Selbst, who sits second on the women’s all-time money list, had the most successful World Series of any Team PokerStars Pro winning her second bracelet for $244,249 and enjoying a deep 73rd place finish in the Main Event.
It’s a great all-round showing from Team PokerStars pro with half of the top ten live players being liveried pros; PCA Super High Roller champ Eugene Katchalov (6th) and 2010 WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel (9th) are also strong contenders thanks to their consistent quality in some of the toughest fields.
The Global Poker Index ranks players according to their results over the previous 36 months, broken down into six six-month sections with the most recent scoring the highest amount of points.
