BOUNTY BUILDER SERIES BULLETIN

Harry “Iamapoopie” Lodge: Six-figure winner

Super poopie as Lodge claims first six-figure score of Series: The biggest prize of the Bounty Builder Series so far went to the UK’s Harry “Iamapoopie” Lodge, who came out on top of the series’ first two-day event. The tournament in question was the $530 buy-in Bounty Builder High Roller Special Edition, which started on Sunday, with 2,134 entries. That built a prize pool of $1.067 million — eclipsing the $1 million guarantee — and Lodge scooped the $68,161.47 first prize, which he bolstered by $48,259.58 in bounty payments. All of those totals represented the biggest numbers of the opening weekend, and Lodge’s $116,421.05 combined haul was the first six-figure payout too. Lodge has been to final tables on the EPT, UKIPT and World Series (both live and online), as well as the Super Tuesday, Sunday Million, SCOOP and TCOOP on PokerStars. This latest success consolidates his position as one of the UK’s leading tournament players.

Incredible Tuesday double for “sjae98”: It’s very difficult to know where this ranks in the list of all-time poker achievements, but the Canadian player “sjae98” pulled off an absolutely remarkable feat in the Bounty Builder Series on Tuesday night. sjae98 won two events — numbers 41 and 42 in the Bounty Builder Series — both of which were huge-field no-limit hold’em tournaments, which ran pretty much simultaneously. In the first, which had a buy-in of $55, he or she defeated 2,481 others to bank $13,135.03, including bounties. In the second, sjae98, beat a 6,299-strong field. That’s 8,870 entries in the two tournaments, and nobody could knock out sjae98. Nobody has done this kind of thing in either SCOOP or WCOOP, where the fields are typically smaller. There’s running hot, and then there’s this. Exceptional.

Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson: Doing what he does best

Mattsson makes up for WCOOP blank: He’s one of the world’s leading online talents, but Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson still hasn’t won a WCOOP title, despite sitting on our “Players to Watch” list for at least three years. Despite that unlikely aberration, Mattsson continues to impress at the PokerStars tables and won the Super Tuesday Special Edition last night, claiming a Bounty Builder Series title in the process. Mattsson came out on top of a 254-entry field, beating fellow crusher Diego Valadares “Mr.Bittar” Bittar heads up. Bittar has close to $5 million in documented online tournament earnings, according to Pocket Fives, while Mattsson has more than $10.5 million, and the recent Bounty Builder result won’t even be in their top 10. But Mattsson took a combined $42,853.80, including $21,332.00 in bounties, and will not be complaining at all — especially as he also finished fourth in Event #40 for another $7.3K.

Brazilian study partners strike gold: The last time Ricardo “rickyibrah45” Rocha got a mention on PokerStars Blog was when his friend and study partner Tiago “Tayguera” Guimarães paid tribute to him in celebration of a major breakthrough during this year’s WCOOP series. Guimarães said the work the pair had put in helped him towards a $50,392.37 victory in a $109 buy-in WCOOP event. Presumably Rocha is now returning the compliment after he became a Bounty Builder Series champion on Monday night, winning Event #18, a $215 NLHE 8-Max event. Rocha won $18,988.10, including bounties, after outlasting a field of 554. It wasn’t easy — Rocha had to beat Joao “Naza114” Vieira, among others (Vieira finished third) — but he closed it out after a heads-up battle against “SteveLaChance”, based in Malta. And that’s not all…

The Instagrammed achievements of Renan Bruschi

Third team-mate also wins: Incredibly, on Tuesday night, the second player name-checked by Guimarães also won on the Bounty Builder Series as the study team’s third member, Renan “Internett93o” Bruschi, also won a title. Bruschi first came to prominence by winning the Sunday Million Special Edition in 2015 that had a $5 million guarantee, earning him $354,187.08. Since then, Bruschi has also won a huge WPT online event, worth more than $500K. The Bounty Builder Series triumph may seem tiny in comparison — $25,090.02, including $14,145.49 in bounty payments — but it’s those kinds of successes that keep decent players ticking over. It’s been an incredible couple of months for this particular Brazilian study team.

Stars skinned by Dane in Event #23: There was an exceptional final table in Event #23, the $530 NLHE tournament, where recent WCOOP champions Alex “Schildy1984” Debus and Rafael “pycadasgalax” Furlanetto (who actually won twice in WCOOP last month) made the last eight. Stefan “mindgamer” Jedlicka was also among the last eight. However, Jedlicka was knocked out in sixth, Debus was fifth and Furlanetto lost the heads-up battle to Denmark’s “skinner18”. Including that final bounty, skinner18’s knockout bonuses came in at $18,296.83, which comprised more than half of his total $34,119.53 haul. It was well deserved after beating that final table, and a field of 402 entries.

Lithuanian 1-2: Only 24 Lithuanians were among the 1,523-strong field in Event #38 — the 8-Max $109 Turbo — but two of them ended the tournament heads up for the title. “efkinis24”, who has previously been to a Sunday Million final, beat countryman “Genyss13” to the final bounty, claiming a combined haul of $20,119.76. That included $10,176.62 in bounty payments. Genyss13 took the same from the main prize pool — close to $9,500 — but only $3,640 in bounties.

Former SM winner adds BBS: “Dannyz0r” added a Bounty Builder Series victory to his triumph in the Sunday Million from 2016. Back then, the Romanian player earned more than $143K, and this most recent victory wasn’t quite in the same ballpark. Dannyz0r beat a field of 2,131 entries in the $55 NLHE, with $85K guaranteed, and picked up $11,004.83 including a $4,203.44 bounty payout. Hungary’s “dodi papa” has also been to a Sunday Million final — he talked us through his fourth-place in 2019 — but went even better in last night’s Bounty Builder series. dodi papa, from Hungary, won the $530 8-Max, beating a field of 360 entries and claiming $31,781.48.
