Kyiv hosts first PokerStars Russian Poker Series event

June 02, 2010

We last visited Kyiv, the beautiful capital of Ukraine, for the first event of last season’s European Poker Tour. It was a cracking city, bathed in sunshine and full of friendly people. The tournament, won by Max Lykov, was a great success, and it’s no surprise to see Kyiv as the first stop of the new PokerStars Russian Poker Series.

The new tour is perfect for Russian-speaking players, with events in some fantastic locations. The Kyiv main event begins this Thursday at the fabulous Khreschatic Poker Club. It will be followed by visits to Riga in Latvia, and the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. The final tournament will also take place in Kyiv later in the year.

In addition to the big prize pools, players will earn points on the Russian Poker Series Leader Board. The player who scores the most points from all events during Season 1 will win a great prize – a one-year PokerStars sponsorship package covering both online and offline tournaments.

You’ll be able to keep up with live coverage of the Kyiv tournament – and indeed all Russian Poker Series events – at our sister Russian PokerStars Blog where, obviously, you’ll need to be able to read Russian.
