If you’ve ever been disappointed looking down at your hole cards, the new game launched on PokerStars today might be what you’re looking for.
It’s called Swap Hold’em.
You might be able to guess at what’s involved, but to find out for certain, read on…
Swap hold’em is played like regular hold’em, but with one key difference.
At any point in the hand, and when it’s your turn to act, you can
swap one or both of your hole cards for new ones.
You can do that for free, once per hand. Either pre-flop or post flop. And on any street.
Like other new games introduced on PokerStars, you’ll be presented with new strategies, and dynamics never previously thought up. Solving them is down to you!
You’ll find swap hold’em in its own tab in the PokerStars client. And joining a game is easy.
The easy seat function is in use. So once you select which stakes you want to play, you’ll be taken to a seat, or be added to the waiting list if no seats are available.
Here’s what you can expect when you sit down…
Remember, you can swap cards at any point in the hand, provided it’s your turn to act.
You can also see when other players have acted. They’ll be a swap icon next to their avatar showing the number of cards they swapped.
The same icon appears next to your avatar if you swap cards.
Remember though, you don’t have to swap yours cards.
If you like the look of them, keep hold of them and play the hand like any other game of hold’em.
But if you do choose to swap, you can get a reminder of the cards you used to have by hovering over the swap icon.
Only you will see them. The same goes at showdown. Your existing hand will be shown face up, but not your swapped cards.
No one will ever know.
The game launches today, although please be aware it’s not yet available on i0S. The all-in cash out feature is also not supported on swap tables.
But you can get a look at what the game looks like, and how it plays, in the video below.
