With the festival now officially under way the Estrellas Main Event is the obvious draw for the poker world, with already more than 600 players in their seats for opening day. But, as alluded to earlier, it’s not the only event that began today, with the High Rollers taking their seats at the start of ten days of poker.
Opening day is not usually when things are won and lost, but that hasn’t stopped more than 130 players from taking their seats, each one costing €10,300 with a single re-entry permitted (before registration closes tomorrow) to bump up the prize pool should things not go according to plan first time around.
So far the field the type of names in it that make you feel the EPT world has returned just as it should have.
There are big names involved, including former EPT Grand Final winner (and the only Spanish player with an EPT title) Adrian Mateos, high roller regulars Dzmitry Urbanovich, Stephen Chidwick and Steve O’Dwyer, along with Kenny Hallaert, using this for training purposes before he heads back to Las Vegas later this year for the final table of the WSOP Main Event.
In another direction are Sam and Luc Greenwood, Niall Farrell and Max Silver, Martin Jacobson and Finger, Chance Kornuth, JC Alvarado and last year’s Barcelona Super High Roller winner Sylvain Loosli.
Everything as it should be on planet EPT.
Take a look at the official website of the EPT, with tournament schedule, news, results and accommodation details for EPT13 Barcelona and the rest of the season.
Also all the schedule information is on the EPT App, which is available on both Android or IOS.
