A new year and a new season of the Eureka Poker Tour has come around very quickly. The first stop of season 5 returns to the King’s Casino, Rozvadov, for the third time and the festival is already in full swing.
PokerStars is always looking for ways to innovate and improve their tours so are trying out a couple of things this week in an attempt to improve the players’ experience. They include split starting flights (days apart) and a Day 1C Turbo (2nd entry only) to be played out tonight. These changes will be explained more as the day progresses but for now, it’s about Day 1B.
A bumper field is expected to fill the vast, dedicated poker room inside the King’s casino. More than 150 players had pre-registered, or qualified, online and another 33 won their seats in last night’s live satellite.
Team PokerStars Pros George Danzer, Christopher and Matthias De Meulder, as well as a Friend of PokerStars Natalie Hof will all be taking their seats today. Hof’s boyfriend, and former WSOP Main Event champion, Pius Heinz will be playing, as will Marius Pospiech, who comes in good form after taking down the Winter Masters in Dortmund 11 days ago for nearly twenty-four thousand Euros.
Martin Meciar bettered a 493-player field here in Season 4 on his way to the title and the €87,600 top prize; he’ll be back this season in an attempt to defend his title. Online qualifiers who will sit down today include Martin Kabrhel, Sam Grafton and Martin Mulsow.
Cards will be in the air at 2pm.
