EPT10 Prague: Back to the Future again as final table commences…soon

December 18, 2013

Screwing with the space-time continuum is always much more fun in films.

Here in Prague, owing to the regular security delay on the cards-up broadcast of the final table, a quick trip down the stairs from the press room and into the main tournament area takes you into the future. There’s no need for a DeLorean, nor a crazy-haired doctor and there’s no dog named Einstein anywhere to be seen.

Just to repeat: the final table of EPT Prague is being screened “as live” on the peerless EPT Live webcast, with all hole cards revealed. In order to protect the integrity of the game, the broadcast runs one-hour behind what is actually occurring in real life. All the official reports are also on the delay, so you, the public, don’t have to incur any spoilers.

The future, yesterday

But it’s a peculiar one for anyone here at the Hilton. Heading downstairs means a trip into the future and it’s possible for the vain to then return to the press room, wait an hour, and then watch oneself appear on TV, lurking suspiciously in the background.

(Not naming any names, but one media hack has just fallen out of a tree while watching their future mother and father flirt, has been seduced by their future mother, has assumed the name Calvin Klein and is now learning Chuck Berry riffs and looking for a ticket for the Enchantment Under The Sea dance. It’s complicated.)

Not naming any names

Anyhow, the point is this: get yourself over to EPT Live to watch all the action unfold, and try to steer away from any unscrupulous sorts on Twitter, who may try to feed some mis-information your way. All accredited media will diligently obey the hour-long embargo, but players, in particular, sometimes find it hard to keep it secret that they’ve just won/lost a huge pot.

By way of teaser, I’ll tell you this. One player at the final table has found a new pair of aviator shades and also has a very frothy red drink. Beyond that? My lips are sealed.

For coverage of Day 6 of the EPT10 Prague Main Event, head to the EPT Prague Main Event page. There’s hand-by-hand coverage and chip counts in the top panel, plus feature pieces below the line.

There’s also full cards-up coverage on EPT Live.

The €10,000 High Roller also plays to a winner. Follow that event on the High Roller page.
