We have had a quick look back through our spreadsheets of chip counts from EPT Deauville, tracing the stacks of the final table players throughout the week. It can be interesting to see which of them have stayed ahead of the curve and which have trailed. We can (sort of) plot their path to the final table.
The graph below shows each of them against one another — a line for each. The lime green line represents the tournament average at that point of the event, and you’ll see, for instance, Sotiros Koutoupas flying out ahead by the start of Day 6, while Carlo de Benedittis lags behind throughout.
De Benedittis’s stats are some of the most interesting. At no point during the entire tournament did he have more than an average stack. Indeed, he only once had more than half the average, mostly lagging far behind. At the start of Day 3, he had less than the 30,000 starting stack.
Eli Heath, by comparison, has been the absolute epitome of steadiness. You can see his orange line hugging that of the average pretty much from start to finish.
They are five-handed now, with the short stacks having been jettisoned. The average stack at time of writing is about 4m. (Full statistics are below.)
