Bounty Builder Series: Friday update

October 25, 2019inNews

It’s been a very busy two days in the Bounty Builder Series, with some of the game’s biggest names claiming titles and thousands of dollars in prize money. Who were they? Read on…

Connor “blanconegro” Drinan: High Roller king

Drinan tames the high rollers: It was High Roller night at the Bounty Builder Series with the largest buy-in of the festival — $10,300 — drawing a highly condensed pool of talent. The tournament fell five players short of hitting its guarantee, leaving the 45 entries to contest a $500,000 prize pool, with that overlay worked in. It took about six hours to wrap things up, by which point Connor “blanconegro” Drinan, who fired only one bullet, was the last man standing, picking up a combined $196,666.59, the biggest prize of the Bounty Builder Series so far. Drinan’s final opponent was the Russian campaigner “hello_totti”, who brought his lifetime cashes, across all sites, to more than $10 million. But “hello_totti” ended with only $7,500 in bounties to complement his $69,469.95 in prize money. By comparison, Drinan’s bounty haul was $97,187.50.

Another great success for Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi

Consolation for “raidalot” Shakerchi: Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi, who this year has made the final table of the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) and the WCOOP Main Event probably didn’t lose too much sleep when he finished three spots short of the money in the $10K Bounty Builder event on Thursday night. But even if he was feeling downhearted, no matter. It just freed him up to win the very next event on the Bounty Builder Series schedule: the $1,050 NLHE Event 138. Shakerchi defeated a 444-entry field to bank $69,969.17, including bounties. Sebastian “p0cket00” Sikorski narrowly missed a third title, finishing third.

“rickv17″‘s roll continues: Fresh from a stellar WCOOP, where he won two events and finished runner up in another, the UK’s “rickv17” is now a Bounty Builder champion too. He won the PLO 6-Max on Thursday night, beating a field of 102 entries in the $2,100 buy-in event. He picked up just over $35K in prize money and nearly $26K in bounties, for a combined $61,132.65.

Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes: Among the Bounty Builder winners

More for Combes: Charlie “JIZOINT” Combes is very well known in UK poker circles, and he’s even more of a legend online. His lifetime cashes now stand at more than $8 million and include a couple of SCOOP victories and a chop in the Sunday Million. As of Thursday night, Combes is also a Bounty Builder champion. He beat “silentm0de” heads-up in the $530 buy-in NLHE Turbo and won more than $38K as a result. “hello_totti” was fourth in this one.

Never forget Nevanlinna: If it seemed like Jussi “calvin7v” Nevanlinna had been quiet during this series, all it took was a nice mid-stakes PLO event to rouse him from his slumber. The Finn, a consistent crusher in SCOOP and WCOOP, last night won the $215 PLO, beating a 513-entry field to bank $17,581, including bounties.

Pedro Padilha: Adding BB to WCOOP

Padilha knocks on the door again: Everyone in poker now knows about Pedro “PaDiLhA SP” Padilha, the Brazilian hotshot who may or may not* have once knocked on Andre Akkari’s front door selling mobile phones. What everyone knows about him for certain is that he’s a tournament beast and on Wednesday night he added victory in the Bounty Builder Series to his WCOOP triumph last month. Padilha won the 4,664-entry “Trick or Treat” tourney, which had a $22 buy-in. He picked up a total $9,539.22 for his efforts. *not. Read the explanation why.

Farrow adds Bounty Builder title to WCOOP: “rickv17” and Padilha weren’t the only former WCOOP winners adding a Bounty Builder Series title to their collections on Wednesday. Canada’s Mike “WalmartCNXN” Farrow, who won his WCOOP back in 2017 was the last man standing in the $530 buy-in Event 125, which had 490 entries and a prize pool of $245,000. Farrow prevailed from a final table also featuring Parker “tonkaaaa” Talbot and won $51,163.09, including bounties.

Add one for “Assad91”: It was back in 2014 when the Norwegian player Assad91” disabled his account on Pocket Fives, the platform that tracks online tournament cashes. But even by that point, the site had recorded two WCOOP titles (both in 2014) and one in TCOOP, from 2013. And on Thursday night, “Assad91” proved that he was still very good at this game when he won the 8-Max Turbo, turning a $109 buy-in into around $20K. “Assad91” beat 1,526 players to the title.

The victory will be televised: Austria-based “Icho90” won Event 136 last night for what he said was the second-biggest cash of his career. It was worth $11,155.51, plus another $8,047.62 in bounties after he beat 655 entries in this $55 tournament. Better even than that was the fact that “Icho90” streamed his victory live on Twitch, playing the tournament start to finish with cards up on the platform. No one seems to have clipped the winning moment yet, but this was certainly a “nice bink” when heads up.
