Just prior to the start of play on Day 3 of the Asia Championship of Poker Main Event, a brief presentation ceremony occurred at the Grand Waldo Conference and Exhibition Centre in which PokerStars Macau — as it has done every year since its launch in 2008 — made a donation to local charities here in Macau.
A check for 400,000 Hong Kong dollars was presented to the Federação das Associações dos Operários de Macau, an organization that collects and distributes funds to Macau charities.
As part of the ceremony, APPT President Danny McDonagh noted how the tour was very pleased to be able to assist local charities in Macau, and added his thanks to the Grand Waldo for allowing the APPT to host tournaments and thus be able to donate to the charity
When PokerStars Macau first began back in 2008, tourneys were held at the Grand Waldo, then for a period the events were moved over to the Grand Lisboa before moving back to the Grand Waldo earlier this year.
Representatives of the Department of Social Affairs and the Federação das Associações dos Operários de Macau spoke as well to thank PokerStars Macau for their donation.
