Day 2. Where the 105 remaining players in the ANZPT Main Event will be whittled down again.
After a night out at The Merrywell Restaurant and Bar for the Player’s Party, today’s Day 2 qualifiers will need to switch their game faces on come 12:30pm.
With two Day 1 flights behind us and 87 players biting the dust, it was Macau regular Raiden Kan who came out on top. Kan starts the day with 80,450 in chips, and will be looking to continue building his stack through the six levels of play.
Following closely behind Kan is the chip leader from yesterday’s flight, prominent British pro Stephen Chidwick, who bagged up 76,350 last night. Joining him among the big stacks is Team PokerStars pro and number one on Singapore’s all-time money list Bryan Huang, with 75,450 in chips.
Other notables still in contention include German star Martin Finger, Aussie Millions final table finishers Anthony Legg and Lennart Uphoff, two from the final table in the 6 Handed side event this week – Jack Salter and Mustapha Kanit, and online crusher Stevan Chew.
In the poker room here at Crown Perth, Kan just announced over the microphone that it’s time to shuffle up and deal. With that, the cards are in the air, as players battle it out again.
They’ll be hoping to survive the day and return for Day 3 tomorrow, before the final table here on Sunday. The field, a mix of local talent and international visitors, will play for six hours today as we approach the 21 money-paying positions.
We’ll be following all the action from here in the poker room, be sure to stick with us at the PokerStarsBlog for everything you need to know from the ANZPT Perth Main Event.
