Anton “Bomber&Granater” Wigg came up against perhaps the toughest final table of the weekend, Andras Nemeth and Dinesh Alt win big in High Rollers, and several players lock up scores of over $20k in the Sunday majors. Here’s what went down:
Anton “Bomber&Granater” Wigg has continually impacted the circuit this year, with 2020 scores that include two huge SCOOP wins worth over $100k each.
Showing no signs of slowing, Wigg faced tough challenges in the $1,050 Sunday HR when he found himself on the final table with some of the best poker players on the planet. Lex Veldhuis finished seventh and Joao “Naza114” Vieira came fourth, but Wigg still had to get through Thomas “WushuTM” Meuhlocker and “CrazyLissy” before he could claim the top spot.
Wigg wasn’t deterred, and put in an excellent performance to earn first place and $60,388. Here’s the final table scores:
|Anton “Bomber&Granater” Wigg||Austria||$60,388|
|Thomas “WushuTM” Meuhlocker||Austria||$33,903|
|Joao “Naza114” Vieira||Netherlands||$25,403|
|Sergio “zcedrick” Aido||UK||$14,262|
Elsewhere in the High Roller Club, Andras “probirs” Nemeth, one of the most accomplished players in the world, won the $1,050 Sunday Cooldown for $29,990. Nemeth earned the lion’s share of the knockouts in the tourney, with over $18k of that score coming from bounties.
But the biggest score was revealed once Sunday’s Bounty Builder HR came to an end. Dinesh “NastyMinder” Alt from Austria, who’s previous wins include the TCOOP Main Event in 2016 and WCOOP title this year, came first for $40,912, also earning $49,099 in bounties for a grand total of $90,011.
With the epic Blowout Series on the horizon, the PokerStars schedule was focused on the usual Sunday majors this weekend, and several players secured wins of over $20k.
The most impressive came in the $109 Sunday Cooldown. “amedeous92” from Germany earned a total of $31,155, with over $14k coming from bounties.
Check out the top five results from the Sunday majors:
|$109 Sunday Cooldown||amedeous92||Germany||$31,115|
|$215 Sunday Supersonic||ultraviol3ent||Argentina||$21,282|
|$22 Mini Sunday Million||Doougii||UK||$21,260|
|$215 Sunday Warm-Up||daragio||Poland||$18,397|
|$11 Sunday Storm||SiberianLion||Russia||$15,693*|
The $109 Sunday Million wrapped up after the second day of play with “teteu_games” from Brazil earning the top prize of $118,207. The player has shown steady success in low stakes MTTs, picking up over $600k in wins, all from $5-$6k scores. The Sunday Million victory is certainly a step up for teteu_games.
It’s a similar story for second place “Fahrenheit95” from Russia, who, despite winning over $500k, has never scored over $6.9k in an online MTT. The second place prize of $84,807 will set them up for an excellent 2021.
