ACOP Platinum Series V: The Summer kickoff in Asia

June 18, 2014

It’s summertime, and the Asian poker circuit is about to heat up with four tournament series taking place over a 7-week span.

ACOP Platinum Series V kicks things off from June 26-29. The 4-day, 4-event series will be held at the ‘PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams’ poker room and once again features the HK $5,500 Main Event which comes with a HK $500,000 guarantee.

ACOP Platinum Series V: June 26-29
APPT Manila: July 2-7
Beijing Millions: July 18-27
Macau Poker Cup: August 1-17

This year, the Platinum Series’ Main Event has averaged 288 players and nearly HKD $1.3m in prize money. A significant boost from 2013 averages of 178 and HKD $802,000.

Besides the cash prizes, Main Event players who make the Top Ten will also qualify for the ACOP Platinum Series Playoff (October 5, 2014) where they can win one of several HK $100,000 Main Event entries to the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker.

As the official mid-way point of the season, the Asia Player of Year race really begins to take shape as it enters the second half.

“You need to be in the Top 100 to have a reasonable shot at the APOY.” said Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang, who won the award in 2010. “The Asia Championship of Poker is a massive poker series with tonnes of APOY points up for grabs. But you still need to be on the scoreboard and that means focusing on the next two months beginning with the Platinum Series.”
