Braumstein leads IPT Grand Final

Day 1B of the PokerStars. It IPT San Remo Grand Final is officially over. It's been a great show here at the Casino Municipale for the most important Italian live poker event.

After eight levels and with blinds 400/800 (ante 100), the current chip leader is Scott Braumstein from USA with 288,100 chips, followed by Russian player Igor Kurganov with 154,300 and PokerStars Qualifier Domenico Cordi with 141,000 chips.

We had 269 players registered for day 1B, which brings the total to a fantastic 418 for a prize pool of €810,920. The lucky lady or gentleman who wins here will take home an incredible prize of €200,000. That's not bad at all for the last PokerStars.IT IPT stop of season 3. Fifty-six players will take a prize home, starting at 3,300 euros.

It's been an intense day for Team PokerStars Pros, and we still have two of them fighting at the tables for Day 2: Pier Paolo Fabretti is sitting on a good stack of 72,100, and Salvatore Bonavena is hanging on with 12,500 chips. Dario Minieri was eliminated at the beginning of the third level, and an unlucky Luca Pagano left the tournament a bit later.

We still have 25 PokerStars qualifiers who survived Day 1B and will join all the players who are left from Day 1A, including three members of PokerStars Team Online.

Karasinsky wins IPT Nova Gorica for €140,000

The chatter in Italy yesterday was all about Carla Solinas and her monster lead heading into the final table of the Italian Poker Tour Nova Gorica event. Solinas had more than twice as many chips as second-placed Dubravko Bagic. As it turned out, Solinas finished runner-up, but not to Bagic. Instead, it was Slovakian Anton Karasinsky who came through and walked away with the title and €140,000.

Karasinsky topped a strong field of 286 players at the Perla Casino, where the IPT had generated a €554,840 prize pool.

Anton Karasinsky

The final action saw Solinas all-in with [5s][6s], behind Karasinsky's [9d][9s]. But the board of [Jd][2c][Jc][Ad][Qh] failed to help and she went home with €74,000 for second place. PokerStars qualifier Carlo Andreoli had finished in third for €46,000.

If, like me, you are clever and can read Italian, then be sure to catch up with all the final table action on our sister Italian PokerStars Blog. *

The next stop on the popular Italian Poker Tour will be San Remo from May 3-7 for the Season 3 Grand Final. It's at this event that the IPT Leaderboard winner will be determined. This player will win sponsorship from PokerStars for the whole Season 4.

Solinas leads as IPT Nova Gorica final table set

The PokerStars Italian Poker Tour never fails to deliver, bringing big fields and plenty of excitement. The Nova Gorica event, which reaches a climax later today, proves the point once more. Leading the final eight is Carla Solinas, one of the emerging talents of Italian poker. When I say leading the field, make that crushing the field: with eight left, she has more than twice as many chips as second-placed Dubravko Bagic.

This €2,000 buy-in event attracted 286 players, generating a €554,840 prize pool, of which €140,000 will go to the winner. When the finalists reconvene at 1pm local time today, Solinas will look to make quick work of making that money hers.

Carla Solinas

Should you feel a little miffed you can't be in Nova Gorica to see it, fear not: the final is being screened live at www.pokerstarsipt.it/tv - and although there's sure to be a lot of Italian spoken, you'll still be able to follow the action. Having said that, there is something endearing about listening to Italian, even if you have no idea what they are saying.

If you happen to be able to read Italian, then be sure to enjoy the final table coverage on our sister Italian PokerStars Blog.

Here's how the final eight will sit down:
2. Dubravko Bagic, 931,000
3. Carlo Andreoli, 925,000
4. Yordan Mitrentsov, 890,000

Oleksii Kovalchuk wins IPT Nova Gorica for €150,000

The PokerStars Italian Poker Tour continues to attract impressive fields, and this Nova Gorica event was loaded with talent that generated a very healthy €556,780 prize pool. After it was all said and done, Oleksii Kovalchuk from the Ukraine took down the title and banked the €150,000 first prize.

Kovalchuk has had an impressive year, winning a WSOP bracelet this summer in the $2,500 NL Hold'em Six Max event for $690,000, but he had to work hard for this second title, facing Team PokerStars Online's Luca Moschitta heads-up.

Oleksii Kovalchuk

The last two survivors from the 284 players who turned out in Slovenia were a fitting illustration of just how much the IPT has developed as a tour, one that is now increasingly being penned in to the diaries of players from around the world.

The final action saw Moschitta move all-in with [Ks][6d] against Kovalchuk's [qs][jc] on a board that turned the [js] to seal the deal. Moschitta, who had $71,000 in live tournament winnings to his name before this event, can now add another €97,000 to that.

The next stop on the IPT circuit will be in Campione d'Italia, November 24-28. Details can be found on the PokerStars Italian Poker Tour site.
