Last week was the inaugural Asia Championship of Poker in the casino-haven of Macau. The event was a great success, with many well-known pros flying in to play in the HKD$100,000 Main Event -- the largest buy-in Main Event that Asia has ever seen. The original destination of the APPT was Grand Waldo Casino, located on Taipai Island, which is more of the Las Vegas mirror image than the main island of Macau....more

Travel Diary: Queenstown
Last week I had the pleasure of traveling to Queenstown, New Zealand, to cover the 2012 APPT Snowfest. I had heard all great things about this particular stop, however no words could have described just how beautiful it really was. As my plane landed amongst picturesque mountains, I knew I...more
Queenstown Snowfest: Dave Allan claims victory!
It took a long heads-up battle but we've finally crowned a Queenstown Snowfest champion with Dave Allan overcoming illness and a tough heads-up opponent in Ken Demlakian to claim the title. Close to two hours ago, Demlakian looked across the table at Allan and chirped, "You're not enjoying this are...more
Queenstown Snowfest: Westmorland walks
Jordan Westmorland has been a dominant force on this final table, responsible for the elimination of several opponents along the way, but it's come unstuck in 3rd place after a big clash with Ken Demlakian. It always proved tricky for Westmorland to have the unpredictable Demlakian sitting to his left....more

It was past 2:30 a.m. here in Macau, about 12-and-a-half hours after the final table had begun, and more than six hours since Xing Zhou and Ying Kit Chan had started their heads-up battle. Here's what they looked like way back when the duel had started. Bright-eyed, determined, ready... It...more
APPT Macau: Advantage Ying Kit Chan
A half-hour into Level 26 (15,000/30,000/4,000), China's Xing Zhou continued to enjoy the chip lead he'd had over Hong Kong's Ying Kit Chan since the start of heads-up play way back in Level 24. Minus the dinner break, that was three hours' worth of poker. Chan had closed the gap....more
