Sunday Warm-up: Gribnogrib goes wire to wire for the victory

new_sunday_warmup_thumb.PNGWith Team PokerStars Pros taking down names and bracelets such as Jason Mercier and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier at the World Series of Poker, some players had to stay home and tend to the online game such as Team Online's Javier El_Cañonero Dominguez who found the shortened field of tonight's $500,000 guarantee Sunday Warm-up to his liking. 2,806 players would pony up the $215 buy-in and Javier would find a couple extra dollars in his bankroll after sliding into in the money in 403rd place ($314.27) after the money bubble burst just a few minutes prior in 414th place.

Fast track to the final table

In just six minutes we would see the tournament go from two tables to one. Normally 18 to 9 players takes a long amount of time due to the dollar amounts involved and sizable stacks but tonight someone wanted that 88K sitting on the final table transferred as quickly as possible into their bankroll. With the blinds at 40K/80K ante 8K Bresnjev would raise to 200,000 from the button as detee in the small blind bumped it up to 396,673. Gribnogrib folded in the big blind as Bresnjev made the call holding 3♠K♠, which was a good gamble up against the A♠J♣ of detee. A three popped on the flop, king on the turn, and with no ace on the river 3♣ 9♠ 9♣ K♦ 7♠ detee burst the bubble finishing in tenth place ($3,507.50).

Luckbox malfunction

Just six hands after sitting down at the Sunday Warm-up final table one of our players would take leave much too early. The blinds sitting at 40K/80K ante 8K LuckBoxDK would shove from middle position with 350,040 in chip as Eirik227 made sure no one else wanted in by re-raising to 640,000. Big slick for LuckBoxDK A♠K♣ as Eirik227 turned up pocket jacks J♣J♠ for the race. Omaha hi/lo players may appreciate the 2♥ 5♦ 5♣ 3♠ 6♠ board but LuckBoxDK did not and finished the night in ninth place ($4,770.20).

Trying to rob a win

The fast paced night continued as another six hands later we would be down to seven left. Blinds remained the same as Gribnogrib up it to 168,000 as Rob99 with a very short stack of 353,678 tried to make something happen with a shove holding pocket tens T♣T♠. Folded to Eirik227 in the small blind who re-raised to 880,000. The chip leading Gribnogrib passed on the chance to play and Eirik227 flipped up a pair of black aces A♠A♣. Rob99 needed a ten badly but failed to catch on the 9♠ 4♣ J♦ K♦ 5♣ board finishing up the night in eighth place ($7,587.42).
I'll take my chip lead back thank you very much
Bresnjev would momentarily take the chip lead from Gribnogrib as the blinds moved up to 50K/100K ante 10K, but after the hand below, that would change:

On the prowl, Gribnogrib raised from UTG to 210,000 as bonstill two seats over, shoved for 3.1 million chips. Folded around to Gribnogrib, the Supernova VIP would make the call with big slick K♠A♦ and dominated the T♥A♠ of bonstill. Both would catch an ace on the flop, but the king kicker played 7♣ Q♠ A♣ 6♦ 8♣ on the final board as bonstill scooped up $13,188.20 for seventh place.

Gribbing for more chips

Another blind move, this time to 65K/130K ante 13K and another big pot for the chip leading Gribnogrib as Eirik227 tried to shave a few chips from Gribnogrib's 8.4 million chip stack. Eirik227 would raise to 292,500 from the button as Gribnogrib left no decisions on the table and shoved for his entire stack. Holding pocket sevens 7♥7♠ Eirik227 made the call, facing a flip for tournament life against Gribnogrib's T♥A♠. Ace in the door A♣ 6♥ 6♦ 9♦ 2♠ sealed the Norwegian's fate as the 6.9 million chips moved to Gribnogrib's stack and $18,800.20 moved to Eirik227's bankroll in sixth place.

Flip for fifth place

Bresnjev was looking to catch Gribnogrib or at least slow down the locomotive and 1jos2 looking to get back into tournament. Watch below as the two duke it out for a 5.1 million chip pot:

1jos2: J♦J♠
Bresnjev: Q♠A♠

No love for pocket jacks today as the flop showed an ace 6♦ 6♥ A♥ 3♦ 2♠ and held through the river eliminating 1jos2 in fifth place ($24,412.20).

The hunter finds more prey

In the biggest pot of the tournament to this point with the blinds moving up to 80K/160K ante 16K Bresnjev would min-raise from UTG as Gribnogrib poked with a three-bet to 722,222 from the big blind. Undeterred, Bresjev decided to take a leap at the dead money and shove to 6.5 million as Gribnogrib called holding big slick A♠K♠. Bad news for the Q♥K♦ of Bresnjev and there would be no saving lady on the 5♦ 7♥ 4♠ 5♣ J♣ board and Gribnogrib's stack would rise after the 13.2 million windfall and Bresnjev took a seat in fourth place ($32,269.00).

RuiNNing the day

Blinds holding steady at 80K/160K ante 16K and RuiNF would take a shot at the chip leader. Check out below what happened after the two got their chips in the middle after a 4♠ T♥ 2♠ flop for a 10.5 million chip pot.

RuiNF pushed that spade draw Q♠9♠ but Gribnogrib was going nowhere holding pocket kings K♥K♦ after they trade two bets a piece to get their chips in the middle. RuiNF sat and watched the T♦ and 7♦ fall without a spade and the 10.5 million chip stack slide to the pocket kings of Gribnogrib. RuiNF was still able to take away $47,140.80 in third place

Wire to wire

In with the chip lead, out with the chip lead. Starting with a massive 23.1 million to 4.89 million chip lead Gribnogrib was determined to finish this off facing gurran1 heads-up. But an olive branch of peace was extended and a chance to chop up the remaining prize pool. But, gurran1 said "lets gamble" as our host Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz put the cards back in the air. 15 minutes later with the blinds at 100K/200K ante 20K Gribnogrib kept his foot on the gas and raised to 420,000 as gurran1 was ground down to 3.5 million and tried his luck preflop by shoving. This time Gribnogrib found a hand, pocket eights 8♣8♦, and made the call. gurran1 went hunting for a straight or flush showing the ragged 8♥5♥. Gutshot on the flop was as close as it would come 9♦ K♠ 7♦ 4♣ Q♣ as Gribnogrib knocked out gurran1 in second place ($65,941.00) collecting the full $88,389.67 as this week's Sunday Warm-up champion!
