Sunday Warm-up: 86'ing the table, narbe86 take down the win

sunday-warmup-thumb.jpgTonight's $750,000 guaranteed Sunday Warm-up is big enough, especially with 4,634 players dropping by to create another guarantee smashing $926,800.00 prize pool. But, in less than one month the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) descends once again on PokerStars with 114 tournament buy-ins varying from $5.50 for the budget minded to $25,500.00 for those wanting to tackle Event #35's NLHE Heads-up matches. Over $45,000,000 in guarantees along with a championship watch for the winners kicking off in 27 days with three different tourneys holding a million dollar guarantee. That's in four weeks, tonight's players are looking at $145,398.49 reasons to win this tournament as 675 players in all would take home a slice of that mentioned $926,800.00 prize pool.

Team PokerStars was shutout at the cashier's window tonight as several tried their luck and skill against the large field such as Vicky Coren, Javier 'El_Cañonero' Dominguez, Barry Greenstein, Juan Manuel Pastor, Maxim Lykov, Jose 'Nacho' Barbero, Pete DeKorver, Joe Cada,David Williams , Mer 'PeachyMer' Brit could not find the right mix of cards and bluffs.

Ten players however did not expire early and played for over ten hours with two six figure paydays waiting for them at the final table. Webster6 was holding the short stack (no pun intended) on Table 86 after Pr0fitter took the majority of those chips with a well timed three-bet on an all-diamond flop, leaving Webster6 with just 814,413 chips. Two hands later Webster6 would call all-in from the big blind holding 8♥4♦ holding for two live cards. The wish was granted by the aggressor dean23price who's raise from the small blind with Q♠A♦ put Webster6 all-in. Despite trips on the board 9♥ 6♦ J♥ 6♣ 6♥ no lucky cards fell for Webster6 and after awarding our 10th place finisher $5,560.80 it was time to start up the final table below:

Expensive Late Night Snack

Shortly after the first five minute break of the final table we would have a huge 7.7 million chip pot develop and two players all-in. _Chapa_26 would min-raise from UTG with blinds at 80K/160K ante 16K as dean23price three bet to 653,900 a couple of chairs over. RunThisTable wisely folded as Nels316 shoved for 3.2 million. STILL not done with the action, d0r1t0s over-shoved for 7.4million from the big blind as the two original raisers did not like their hands anymore and folded. Pocket kings K♦K♠ for d0r1t0s as Nels316 sighed and turned up tens T♥T♠ while watching the J♣ 4♥ 5♠ 7♠ 2♥ drop those remaining chips into d0r1t0s' stack and Nels316 finished the night in ninth place ($7,414.40).

Plenty of VIP stars at the final table narbe86 and SLOligarh sporting the GoldStar, dean23price with the four stars for Platinum, and d0r1t0s and Pr0fiteer holding the Supernova sign of five stars. Practice makes perfect, and potentially six-digits in cash tonight. Min-raises preflop took care of the blinds on most hands as the 100K/200K ante 20K and 125K/250K ante 25K blind level failed to knock out any of the remaining eight players.

Run Run Away

After two full blind levels with zero eliminations, RunThisTable would finally escort someone off the table. With the blinds moving up to 150K/300K ante 30K _Chapa_26 would shove from middle position for 1.7 million and find a customer in RunThisTable sitting in the small blind holding pocket queens Q♠Q♣. _Chapa_26 turned up K♠T♣ hoping for a king or a couple of tens, but instead watched the A♣ 7♠ 7♥ 9♠ 3♠ board run dry as RunThisTable collected the 3.9 million chip pot and _Chapa_26 collected $11,585.00 in eighth place.

Profitable ROI

After making it through over 4,600 players you need to think positively after exiting such a big tournament. Yes, there was that six figure payout but you only paid $215 to take in twenty grand! Pr0fiteer had his stack evaporate within four hands. First, doubling up narbe86 in a 9.9 million chip pot, then with the blinds still at 150K/300K ante 30K Pr0fiteer would be all-in again preflop, but this it his tournament life on the line holding A♣7♦. dean23price would make the call from the button holding the dominating A♥J♦. The jack kicker was all that was necessary on the 4♥ 3♦ T♠ 3♥ 9♦ board to eliminate Pr0fiteer with a huge ROI in seventh place ($20,853.00).

Nothing cheesy here

SLOligarh went looking for an ace, check out the hand below against d0r1t0s if that ace turned up:

Sadly the ace nor diamonds of SLOligarh's A♦7♦ would connect with the K♦ 6♥ J♣ 5♦ J♥ board as d0r1t0s' pocket sevens 7♥7♣ were more than enough to take down the 5.1 million chip pot as SLOligarh collected $30,121.00 in sixth place.

Hey Mikki! Hey Mikki!

Another five minutes of wait time went by as the players remained silent in the chat box, two players decided to let their chips to the talking. With the blinds at 200K/400K ante 40K d0r1t0s decided to take a stand from UTG with a shove for 4.1 million. mikki696 on his immediate left also shoved for a very similar amount leaving d0r1t0s with just 1,427 chips. mikki696 showed pocket rockets A♥A♣ as d0r1t0s held A♠8♥ and needing a miracle. Unfortunately d0r1t0s would be left holding an empty bag after the K♥ 9♦ J♥ 6♦ 4♥ board trickled down. d0r1t0s would fail the chip and a chair run on the very next hand leaving in fifth place ($39,389.00).

Outpacing the competition

Just four hands later the blinds would bump up to 250K/500K ante 50K and we would bump one more player from the tournament, check out the elimination below:

mikki696's found chips with pocket aces would be lost two hands earlier to RunThisTable in a sizable 16.1 million chip pot. With only 769,377 chips left mikki696 would be all-in holding K♦9♣ against RunThisTable's A♦J♦. An ace on the door A♥ Q♣ 4♠ 3♥ 9♦ was more than enough to get mikki696 to surrender those remaining chips, finishing in fourth place ($52,364.20).

Paying the price

As the blinds moved up to 300K/600K ante 60K dean23price and narb86 decided to try to combine similar sized stacks preflop to match RunThisTable's chip leading 24 million. 21.7 million in the middle with dean23price covering by just under a million chips, narbe86 would show pocket jacks J♠J♥ ahead of dean23price's T♠A♥. No aces on the 5♥ K♥ 2♦ 9♦ 2♠ board sent dean23price nearly out of the tournament. He would make those chips last five more hands and try to slide 9♦T♥ past the A♠6♦ of narbe86. The flop looked promising J♦ 2♣ K♠ giving dean23price four more outs to a straight but an A♣ left only those four queens. 5♥ on the river sealed dean23price's tournament fate in third place ($76,461.00).

narbe86 leads going into heads-up play

Blinds holding at 300K/600K ante 60K narbe86 would enjoy a slight lead of 25.8 million to 20.5 million as the players were intent on playing for it all as no solid deal thoughts came down.

Ran this table, except for one

The Sunday Warm-up would take over ten and a half hours to reach heads-up play, and just 14 hands and four minutes to decide this week's champion. Watch below to see why:

Blinds moved up to 400K/800K ante 80K as narbe86 extended the lead to 28.4 million over RunThisTable's 17.8 million. A min-raise from RunThisTable's button got a call from narbe86. Flop of 9♣5♣7♣ got narbe86 to check as RunThisTable followed-through with a 1.6 million chip bet and narbe86 made the call. Turn T♣ put three clubs on the board as narbe86 checked again and RunThisTable pushed out 3.2 million. This time narbe86 did not sit back and check-raised to 9.6 million. RunThisTable was content with the flopped set of sevens 7♠7♣ and shoved for 14.6 million and narbe86 quickly made the call. J♣Q♣ turned flush for narbe86 shot down the flopped set and the K♥ on the river failed to pair the board giving narbe86 the 35.7 million chip pot and $145,398.49 in real cash for winning this week's Sunday Warm-up!
