Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser is king of 1/15/13 Super Tuesday, earns $95K

This week's Super Tuesday saw the first 500-plus player field of 2013 with 502 coming out for the weekly $1,050 no-limit hold'em tournament. That meant the $502,000 prize pool well exceeded the event's $300K guarantee, and in the end it was Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser of Switzerland topping that big group to claim the victory and $95,380 first prize.

It would take Kaiser a little over 11 hours to claim the win. Here are some highlights of what happened along the way.

As players cruised past the three-hour mark, last week's Super Tuesday winner Casey "bigdogpckt5s" Jarzabek had begun to accumulate a few chips to edge into above-average status. "Building a nice little stack in super Tuesday," Jarzabek tweeted. "Back to back?"

Alas for bigdogpckt5s, he'd soon thereafter lose a chunk of chips to BlackStar433, then lost the rest to TryToExploit when his A♣6♣ failed to improve against the latter's pocket sevens, ending Jarzabek's run in 118th.

Meanwhile Ben "NeverScaredB" Wilinofsky enjoyed a strong first few hours in this week's tournament, quickly building a stack up over 100,000 when no one else had even half that.

Wilinofsky was still leading when the last remaining Team PokerStars Pro Jose "nachobarbero" Barbero was eliminated in 99th after losing the last of his chips to Ondrej "Vinkyy" Vinklarek. By then Wilinofsky was up over the 150,000-chip mark, with Chilax Chuck way back in second position with just over 65,000.

The field gradually rose up to contend with Wilinofsky, however. By about the five-and-a-half-hour mark the field had shrunk to 63 and the money bubble burst, and soon after brusYvo -- winner of the Sunday Million just a couple of months ago -- finally overtook Wilinofsky for the chip lead.

Soon after that came a huge hand between NeverScaredB and Season 8 EPT Tallinn winner Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser that saw Wilinofsky five-bet shove with T♣7♣ and Kaiser snap-call with K♥K♦. Kaiser's hand held, resulting in a big chip swing and pushing 1-ronny3 up into first postion. Take a look:

NeverScaredB would hang on for a little more than orbit after that, then lost most of his remaining chips to a short-stacked 70ie after running 4♣4♥ into 70ie's 6♦6♥. Soon after that NeverScaredB saw 1-ronny3 claim the last of his stack to send Wilinofsky railward in 45th for a $2,510 cash.

It would take another couple of hours to play down to a final table, with Kaiser leading much of the way until inca7bar pushed ahead of him to lead when nine were left.

Falling just shy of the final table were boss_bobo (18th), Sany Boy (17th), and holly17 (16th) who each earned $4,016; Naza114 (15th), Chilax Chuck (14th), and TryToExploit (13th) who took away $5,020 apiece; and AA d@n¡ KK (12th), Kihlström (11th), and Trevor "allintrev23" Dinneen (10th) who saw $6,024 added to their PokerStars accounts.

Just nine were left.

Seat 1: Kenny "SpaceyFCB" Hallaert (Belgium) -- 346,761
Seat 2: MON3Y$HOT (Australia) -- 315,036
Seat 3: GlitchHopper (United Kingdom) -- 204,573
Seat 4: Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser (Switzerland) -- 368,156
Seat 5: inca7bar (Portugal) -- 396,346
Seat 6: Ondrej "Vinkyy" Vinklarek (Czech Republic) -- 112,960
Seat 7: brusYvo (Czech Republic) -- 347,632
Seat 8: Monk532 (Canada) -- 167,364
Seat 9: byfon (Russia) -- 251,172

It would take nearly 40 minutes for the first final table elimination to occur.

With the blinds at 2,800/5,600, GlitchHopper opened for 14,560 from middle position and it folded around to brusYvo in the big blind who called. The pair saw the flop come 6♠6♦Q♣. brusYvo checked, GlitchHopper bet 14,000, and brusYvo called. The turn then brought the 4♦ and another check from brusYvo. This time GlitchHopper bet 25,200, leaving just 39,803 behind, and when brusYvo responded with a check-raise over the top, GlitchHopper called all in.

brusYvo had K♣K♥, better than the A♣Q♥ of GlitchHopper. The river was the 2♠, and GlitchHopper was gone in ninth.

It was just a few minutes later when Monk532 open-raised all in from under the gun for 43,276 (a little less than eight big blinds) and only brusYvo called from the big blind. Monk532 had Q♦J♥ and brusYvo 7♠7♣. The flop came A♣9♠5♠, which didn't help Monk532. Then the 7♥ fell on the turn, giving brusYvo a set and leaving Monk532 drawing dead. They were down to seven.

They'd play on, pushing toward the nine-hour break, with those two knockouts having helped brusYvo move out in front. Then with the blinds at 3,600/7,200, brusYvo opened with a 2x raise to 14,400 from early position, then MON3Y$HOT reraised to 30,777 from the button. The blinds folded, and brusYvo reraised again to 74,599. MON3Y$HOT then pushed all in for 323,910 total and brusYvo made the call.

brusYvo: Q♣Q♥
MON3Y$HOT: 7♥7♦

A bad spot for MON3Y$HOT, and when the board came 9♦A♦A♥K♦9♥, MON3YSHOT was out in seventh while brusYvo suddenly had more than 1 million chips -- more than twice that of second-place Kenny "SpaceyFCB" Hallaert.

They'd move into the 10th hour and Level 34 where the blinds were 4,500/9,000 (with a 1,125 ante). That's when inca7bar open-pushed all in for 187,620 from the button and got one caller in Ondrej "Vinkyy" Vinklarek playing from the small blind.

inca7bar had 3♣3♥ and was in need of help versus Vinkyy's 6♥6♦. But the five community cards came Q♦7♥K♥J♣2♠, and inca7bar was sent railward in sixth.

Kenny "SpaceyFCB" Hallaert would be next out in fifth following a confrontation with leader brusYvo. In Hallaert's last hand, he opened with a 2x raise to 20,000 from the cutoff seat, then brusYvo reraised all in from the big blind and SpaceyFCB called with the 172,813 he had left.

brusYvo had A♦9♥ while Hallaert had Q♣Q♦. But the flop came A♥3♦5♦ to swing the advantage bruYvo's way, and after the T♦ turn and 2♥ river SpaceyFCB was eliminated in fifth.

brusYvo continued to lead until the last hand prior to the 10-hour break, but that one saw another big hand play out, this time between brusYvo and Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser. The pair traded bets to the river with the board rolling out A♦A♣J♦2♦Q♣, then on the river Kaiser bet, brusYvo raised, Kaiser shoved, and after nearly a minute in the tank brusYvo called.

That third diamond on the turn had given brusYvo a flush with K♦9♦. But the same card had also completed a full house for 1-ronnyr3 who held A♥2♥.

That hand put 1-ronnyr3 in front as to begin Hour #11, and after 15 minutes the blinds had climbed to 7,000/14,000 when byfon opened for 35,000 from the small blind, Kaiser reraised to 96,969 from the big blind, byfon pushed all in for 526,930, and 1-ronnyr3 called.

Both players had picked up hands in the blinds, with byfon taking T♠T♥ up against Kaiser's A♥Q♦. byfon led through the turn as the community cards came K♣9♦6♣, then 9♠. But the river brought the Q♣ to pair 1-ronnyr3's hand, and byfon was out in fourth.

About 10 minutes after that they'd reached Level 38 (8,000/16,000/2,000) when brusYvo opened with an all-in raise to 256,905 from the button and Ondrej "Vinkyy" Vinklarek called from the big blind. brusYvo had A♦8♠ and Vinkyy 7♥7♣, then the flop landed 7♦6♥6♥ to give Vinklarek a full house. The turn and river brought a couple of treys, and they were down to two.

Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser began heads-up play with 1,780,347, well ahead of Ondrej "Vinkyy" Vinklarek's 729,653. Over the next half-hour Vinklarek would battle back to even the counts, but Kaiser would retake the advantage and by the 11-hour mark had built back close to 1.6 million to Vinklarek's nearly 920,000. Then when they returned from the break it took but two more hands to decide it.

In the final hand, Vinkyy opened with a min-raise to 40,000 from the button, 1-ronnyr3 made it 111,111 to go, Vinklarek reraised to 260,000, Kaiser reraised again over the top for a million more, and Vinklarek called with the 655,603 he had left.

Both players had picked up aces, but Vinkyy had the better kicker with A♦Q♦ to 1-ronnyr3's A♥T♠. Then came the flop -- 5♣T♦8♦! Kaiser had paired his ten. The turn was the 4♣, and Vinklarek was still looking for a queen. But the river brought the A♣, and Kaiser had won.
