treezer tops 11/27/12 Super Tuesday, takes $99,940

It was yet another super-duper Super Tuesday this week with a field of 526 coming out for the weekly $1,050 no-limit hold'em tournament. That marked the fifth Super Tuesday this year for which more than 500 played, and the fourth time it has happened in the last six weeks.

That turnout meant a prize pool of $526,000 (well over the $300K guarantee) with the top 63 finishers getting paid. And in the end it was treezer of Sweden outlasting everyone to claim a hefty first prize of $99,940.

It took them about four hours and 20 minutes to play down to 100 players, with litovchenko8 of the Ukraine, WCOOP bracelet holder Vinkyy, and former Super Tuesday winner OBVAMENTS leading the way.

By then most of the representatives of Team PokerStars who'd taken part had fallen, including Caio Pessagno of Team Online, Jose "nachobarbero" Barbero, Christian "el grillo" de León, Johnny Lodden, and Martin Staszko.

Only Team Pro Ana Marquez remained to represent the red spade brigade. At the time she had a better-than-average stack, but would soon fall well shy of the cash in 93rd place.

It took about an hour more for the cash bubble to burst, and with 63 left OBVAMENTS had pushed into the chip lead with more than 177,000 with Vegas Dietz and litovchenko8 the only other players over 100k.

They had already begun the eighth hour by the time the field had been cut down to just 18 players gathered around two tables, with litovchenko8 still sporting a big stack and nearly tied with Paris Dedes atop the counts with about 315,000.

litovchenko8 would remain in front over the next hour as the next nine fell, chipping up close to 800,000. Of those eliminated during that stretch, lillen557 (18th), Doug "imcastleman" Dicken (17th), and hdjgkfkgsdl (16th) each earned $4,208. Luke "Tobia$ Bluth" Nettles (15th), pistecaloze (14th), and Mike "VegasDietz" Dietrich (13th) took away $5,260 apiece. And 1banditpanda (12th), whereisdonny (11th), and Monk532 (10th) saw $6,312 added to their PokerStars accounts.

Eight hours and 21 minutes after the tournament had begun, the final table was underway.

Seat 1: franc1978685 (Russia) -- 83,280
Seat 2: dejanaceking (Bosnia and Herzegovnia) -- 377,865
Seat 3: ChernyAV (Russia) -- 108,471
Seat 4: boytakas (Philippines) -- 210,197
Seat 5: litovchenko8 (Ukraine) -- 790,392
Seat 6: OBVAMENTS (Mexico) -- 354,213
Seat 7: ottoman09 (Romania) -- 236,885
Seat 8: treezer (Sweden) -- 162,220
Seat 9: Paris Dedes (Greece) -- 306,477

The final nine played about a orbit's worth of hands, then came two eliminations on successive hands with both knockouts being claimed by OBVAMENTS.

In the first, the blinds were 3,200/6,400 when OBVAMENTS raised to 13,376 from under the gun, then ChernyAV reraised to 50,000 from the button. It folded back to OBVAMENTS who shoved all in, and ChernyAV -- a WCOOP bracelet holder, having won a $265 NLHE bounty event in 2011 -- called with the 49,671 left behind.

Both players showed big hands -- A♠K♦ for OBVAMENTS, and K♣K♠ for ChernyAV -- and through the 5♣5♠9♠ flop and 4♦, ChernyAV's kings were still best. But the river was the A♦, giving OBVAMENTS the better pair and sending ChernyAV out in ninth.

On the very next hand, franc1978685 open-pushed for 92,080 from middle position and only OBVAMENTS called from the big blind. franc1978685 had 9♣9♥ and OBVAMENTS A♦Q♦, and after the five community cards came 5♥A♠T♦T♥8♥, OBVAMENTS had again made a pair of aces to secure another elimination, with franc1978685 hitting the virtual rail in eighth.

About 20 minutes later the blinds had moved to 3,600/7,200 when Paris Dedes opened with a 2x raise to 14,400 from UTG, then litovchenko8 reraised to 26,789 from the cutoff seat. It folded back around to Paris Dedes who pushed all in for 219,095 total and litovchenko8 called.

litovchenko8 showed A♦Q♦ while Paris Dedes was hoping his 8♣8♦ would hold. But the flop came Q♠7♦5♣ to give litovchenko8 queens and the lead. The turn was the T♣ and river the 9♥, and Paris Dedes was out in seventh.

litovchenko8 would keep on adding to the lead soon thereafter when knocking out boytakas in sixth. In that hand boytakas started things with a 2x raise to 14,400 from the cutoff, then litovchenko8 reraised to 32,999 from the button. The blinds folded, boytakas pushed all in for 102,773 total, and litovchenko8 called.

boytakas: A♦9♠
litovchenko8: 9♦9♥

The board rolled out 3♦T♠Q♥K♦5♠, and they were down to five.

The nine-hour break arrived, with litovchenko8 continuing to lead with 848,605 and dejanaceking starting to close in with 772,530. OBVAMENTS sat in third with 518,213, treezer fourth with 277,980, and ottoman09 fifth of five with 212,672.

It would take another half-hour for the next to fall. The blinds were 5,000/10,000, and after a dejanaceking open for 20,000 from under the gun, litovchenko8 reraised to 44,999. Then OBVAMENTS pushed all in from the button for 296,968. All folded back to litovchenko8 who quickly called, turning over A♥K♥ to OBVAMENTS 7♦7♥.

The flop came 8♠K♠6♣ to put litovchenko8 out in front. The turn was the T♠, giving OBVAMENTS a gutshot possibility. But the river was the Q♦ and OBVAMENTS was gone in fifth.

That would prove the only elimination of the hour, and by the time they reached the 10-hour break dejanaceking had grabbed the lead away from litovchenko8, sitting with more than 1.1 million with treezer now in second with about 835,000.

Forty more minutes would pass, with dejanaceking continuing to lead while litovchenko8 slipped back to fourth of four. Meanwhile the blinds had risen to 9,000/18,000 when litovchenko8 open-raised all in for 300,516 from the small blind and ottoman09 called from the big blind.

It was A♦J♠ for litovcheno8 and T♥T♣ for ottoman09. The board came eight-high -- 5♣5♦7♦8♥3♥ -- and litovcheno8's Super Tuesday run had ended in fourth.

The final three pushed on toward the 11-hour break, and along the way ottoman09 won a big double-up through dejanaceking, using 9♣9♠ to beat the latter's A♦J♥ and grab the chip lead away. Then the very next hand saw another big preflop all-in confrontation between the pair, with one of the two this time failing to survive.

It began with dejanaceking making a 2x raise to 40,000 from the button, then ottoman09 reraising to 105,444 from the small blind. treezer stepped aside, then dejanaceking reraised to 200,000. ottoman09 made it 294,556, dejanaceking six-bet shoved for 783,783 total, and ottoman09 called.

dejanaceking showed A♣7♠ and ottoman09 Q♥Q♦ -- a pair of hands and a scenario that recalled the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event final table and a huge three-handed hand between Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel and Joseph Cheong.

The flop then came 5♠Q♠7♥ to give dejanaceking a pair of sevens but ottoman09 a set of queens. The turn was the 6♥, making the river J♣ no matter, and after leading just two hands before, dejanaceking was out in third.

Heads-up play began with ottoman09 well in front with 1,942,889 to treezer's 687,111. The pair played 37 hands, during which stretch treezer managed to close the gap considerably to pull nearly even.

Then came a decisive hand in which ottoman09 three-bet before the flop and treezer called, then the two went back and forth with a series of reraises following a 6♣J♦3♠ flop to put treezer all in. treezer had K♣J♠ for top pair of jacks and the edge over ottoman09's A♠K♠. The turn was the 7♦ and river the Q♦, and suddenly treezer had nearly all of the chips in play. Take a look:

On the very next hand, ottoman09 would open-push the 30,135 left behind after the small blind and ante with J♦6♥, and treezer called quickly with A♥T♥. The board ran out T♣Q♣Q♠3♣7♣, and suddenly it was all over -- treezer had won!
