PCA 2013: $100,000 Super High Roller sets the pace

The PCA 2013 kicks off with the $100,000 Super High Roller as stars of the poker world turn out in their droves.

Can you feel it? There's electricity in the air, the blue sparking kind. While the finishing touches are applied to the fixtures and fittings of the red spade bedecked tournament room 34 of the biggest names in the poker world are slowly making their way to a large TV set-up just a matter of yards away from our press desk.

PokerStars Team Online's Isaac Haxton, Jason Somerville and Doc Sands are among the players that have been seen circulating near the tournament floor. Plenty more will be readying themselves for their first - and biggest - tournament of the year. It's a terrifying list of tournament crushers and high stakes cash gamers. There will be no easy draw. The field will play eight one-hour levels with a 90-minute dinner break. Each player will start with 250,000, good for 250 big blinds at the 500-1000, ante 100 first level. If it helps with perspective, that's $400 a big blind.

Last year this tournament was won by Viktor Blom, the year before it was Eugene Katchalov. This year's champ is unlikely to disappoint, nor will they be disappointed by the seven-figure pay packet that they'll pocket. As an added bonus the winner will also get to strap on a luxury watch from Swiss watch brand Slyde, the official watch sponsor for the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. It's really quite fancy.

Check out the full PCA Schedule here. And if you haven't already put your name down for a free $100 last longer bonus then you should do that now. Entry to that competition closes in the early hours of tomorrow morning so do it now.
