LAPT Florianopolis: Day 2, level 13 and 14 updates (blinds 1,200-2,400, 200 ante)

7.20pm: Fifteen minutes to change your tournament
A 230,000 pot, which took about 15 minutes to play, has left Canadian Rudy Blondeau with the lot and Mario Donoso a meagre 8,000 left.

Donoso had bet from the small blind and Blondeau had called from the big. The flop came 4♠J♦T♥. Donoso checked to Blondeau who bet 16,000. Donoso called for a 7♦ turn. Another check and Blondeau made it 20,500 to play. Another call, with Donoso asking Blondeau how much he had left.

On the river card 7♠ Donoso checked one last time. Blondeau moved all in and Donoso called. 8♦9♥ for Blondeau who took the pot when Donoso mucked.

7.10pm: Spanish only at the tables
The board read 6♦J♦5♠5♦A♥ and Ulises Sanchez was talking. I couldn't understand a word of it but the jist seemed to be that he wanted Andre Scaff to call his 15,000 from the button. Scaff was in the big blind and was resisting Sanchez's call to arms. More talking, then people laughed and Scaff passed.

Sanchez perfromanced a comic sigh but then showed A♦2♦ for the flush. Scaff still has 215,000 while Sanchez moves up to 100,000.

7pm: About last night
So what's been happening with our Day 1 chip leader Matthias Habernig? I'll tell you what he's doing, he's winning pots.

Still sitting at the same table that he started the day in, Habernig raised to 5,000 from the cutoff. Kwang Ho Han, also in the same seat that he started the day in, called in the big blind.

Ho Han checked the 7♥9♦2♥ flop and Habernig bet 7,200. Ho Han made the call and a K♣ came on the turn.

Ho Han led out for 13,500 and Habernig stared him down. After a minute or so of this staring down, Habernig raised to 35,100. Ho Han decided to fold.

Habernig is now up to 183,000. Despite losing that pot, Ho Han still has 125,000 left in chips.

Habernig raised to 5,000 again the next hand. Everyone decided to fold this time and give him the pot.

6.50pm: To the turn
On a flop of Q♠T♣5♠ Marcus Sanchez and Ricardo Goncalez faced off against each other. Sanchez initially bet 7,000 before Gonzalcez raised to 14,000, sending the attention back up the table to Sanchez.

Sanchez took his time. Wearing a Brazil football shirt and dark glasses, he rubbed his chin for a few moments before moving all-in for roughly 100,000. Now it was Goncalez in the spotlight. But he couldn't pull the trigger and instead folded his hand, down to 50,000. Sanchez moves up to 165,000.

6.35pm: Flying Fernandez
Team PokerStars Pro, Leo Fernandez, continues to make his presence known, this time knocking someone out. That someone was Eric Mifune.

Mifune raised to 6,500 from middle position and Fernandez responded by going all in for 32,000. Mifune only had 18,000 behind him. Calling would put his tournament life at risk, but he risked it. Mifune made the call and showed A♣9♣ and was up against Fernadez' pocket nines.

The board ran 7♦T♦K♠J♠2♣, a safe five cards for the Team PokerStars Pro. Fernandez now has 51,500, close to an average stack.  

6.20pm: Excuse me sir
We take pride on the PokerStars Blog of naming every player involved in a hand when possible. There's no point telling the world a guy doubled up against some other guy. But sometimes even best efforts are fruitless, but then sometimes it's understandable.

On a board already reading 9♣T♣Q♠K♦ Andre Sa made it 18,500 to play. His "opponent" called for a river card 8♠ and with more than 50,000 in the middle.

At this point Sa moved all-in, not moving any chips, just saying it and watching for a reaction. His opponent called, showing A♣Q♥ but Sa topped that, showing A♦J♠ for the straight. As one man banged the table in fury the other allowed himself a quiet fist pump of triumph.

One gone. I asked his name but he was in no mood to say it. Sa up to 185,000.

6.15pm: Level up
Blinds are now 1,200-2,400 with a 200 ante as we enter level 14.

6.05pm: Jorge Arias takes center stage
Team PokerStars Online Pro Jorge Arias has been clinging on in the best of fashion today, never above 30,000 for long. Earlier today he spoke to the video blog team about the tournament so far.

5.55pm: Fernandez fun
Although he's been moved off the feature table, Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez is giving his table a lot of action.

Fernandez raised to 5,300 from early position and got two callers. The flop fell K♥9♦3♣ and Fernandez took down the pot with a 7,400 continuation bet.

A few hands later, Fernandez was in the big blind. He and the small blind called a 5,100 raise from the cutoff. The flop was 9♠8♠5♦ and all three players checked. The turn brought another five, and another round of checking.

The river changed things up with a Q♥. The blinds checked again, but this time, the cutoff bet 10,300. The small blind called but Fernandez decided to fold.

Both players showed jack-ten and chopped the pot.

Fernandez waited until the button to come around to play another hand. When the button did come, Fernandez raised to 5,300 and was called by the small blind.

The flop had two jacks and a three. It also enticed a 7,000 bet from the small blind, Fernandez folded.

The next hand, from the cutoff, Fernandez decided to bet 5,300 again. This time, Roni Molchansky called in the big blind.

Things getting difficult

The Fernandez and Molchansky checked down the 5♣K♣3♠6♣8♠ board. Come showdown time, Molchansky showed 5♠4♠ for a pair of fives. The fives were good enough as Fernandez threw his hand in the muck .

Fernandez is down to 30,000, and Molchansky sees himself at 160,000

5.40pm: Fire up the Pinto
Guillermo Montero has moved into the chip lead after a hand against Javier Pinto, who eliminated Joe Cada yesterday. There was betting along the way and the board filled out with hearts to go with the one in Montero's hand. Pinto had made top two pair but Montero was left with the pot, 220,000 and the chip lead.

5.25pm: Scaffed up
Andre Scaff from Brazil sends another player to the rail. It leaves just 100 players remaining in the LAPT Florianopolis field and Scaff has 140,000 chips.

5.15pm: Play resumes
Breaks are growing a little longer than usual to allow time for television adjustments. We're back playing in level 13 with blinds of 1,000-2,000 and a 200 ante.
