After winning the World Series of Poker, a small final table you may have heard about last November, Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel could be forgiven for taking things a little easy, perhaps planning what to do with his $8,944,138.
Instead, the Canadian has hardly been home, preferring to head back on the circuit with PokerStars. The PCA was not fruitful, but here in Deauville, although failing to score in the EPT main event, he went on to win the $10,000 side event last night. That means another €203,232 is heading towards Duhamel's bank account.
He beat French player Alain Confino heads-up, the final hand coming with short-stacked Confino going all-in with A-J but coming up against the world champ's perfectly-timed A-K. A total of 58 players took part.
Duhamel, who was being railed by Swedish pro Martin Jacobson, who had finished runner-up in the Main Event only a few hours earlier, said: "I'm so happy right now. I love poker!"
Congratulations, Jonathan, on another fantastic performance.
