It almost seems rude to profile somebody who has been around PokerStars almost as long as it has been around. It seems a tad gauche to "introduce" you to someone who has a really hard time counting the number of final tables he's made. And yet, we must, because just a couple of days ago, dangdokodang added another title to his trophy case.
If you're not familiar with the name, you haven't spent much time on PokerStars over the last six or seven years. Or you weren't paying attention when he won the Sunday Million a couple of years back. Simply put, even if you don't know his real identity, it's impossible to deny the guy has quite a legacy on PokerStars. He's once again cemented his place in PokerStars history by grabbing a WCOOP bracelet and $70,000 in the 2009 WCOOP Mixed Hold'em event.
Dangdokodang has been playing poker for more than 40 years and in that time has five WSOP final tables to his name, not to mention hundreds, and hundreds of other final tables in other events. Now, after the final table you see below (WCOOP Event 14 Mixed Hold'em) Dangdokodang has a WCOOP bracelet.
If you, like many others, have ever seen the screen name and wondered what was behind it, simply asking the question clears it up.
"It come from a Zen mantra which is 'dangdangdokodang', but that is too long to fit," he told us. "All my screen names have a spiritual meaning."
Poker came naturally and profitable to one of WCOOP's newest champions.
"I was an expert at all games upon first playing them, this includes Chess, Go, Backgammon, Pinochle," he said. "Poker was a natural outcome, as you most often get paid."
So, in short, telling this man's story in whole is unnecessary and too laborious. It's the War and Peace of poker. Nonetheless, we'd like like to congratulate dangdokodang on his most recent win. No matter how many times you get there, it's still gotta feel good.
