So, take a look at the logo on the left there. Most weeks out of the year, that logo serves its purpose completely. That's because most weeks, PokerStars guarantees one million bucks for the Sunday Million. This week, that logo is useless to me except for serving as the perfect device to use to highlight this fact: this weekend, the PokerStars Sunday Million will guarantee $6 million in prize money.
Some six years ago on March 6, 2006, PokerStars bumped its weekly Sunday guaranteed tournament to $1 million. That day, the player known as 'aaaaaaaa' beat a field of 5,893 players out of the lion's share of the $1,178,600 prize pool.
Since that fateful day, the Sunday Million has averaged more than 7,000 players per week. The biggest of those weeks was last year's fifth anniversary party. That event drew 59,128 players and a ridiculously big $11,825,600 prize pool.
Now, it's time to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the world's biggest weekly poker tournament with a prize pool guaranteed to be six million dollars.
Oh, and I should probably mention this: first place is guaranteed to be $1 million.
The buy-in remains the same as it ever was, $215, but you can get in for as little as $1 if you take advantage of the many feeder satellites going on right now. I you would like to sneak in for free at the last minute, consider hitting up the $11 that starts right before the Sunday Million this week. It guarantees 1,000 seats to the Sunday Million.
A quick check o the Sunday Million registration shows that nearly 3,000 people have already signed up for this weekend's event with more than 50 hours before play kicks off.
So, hit up a satellite, get in on the cheap, and get yourself in what is sure to be one of the top Sunday Millions in history.
