Boku87 Challenge

Mission Accomplished!

So on Wednesday the 19th May I finally finished the challenge. After a little over 10 months and nearly 45,000 tournaments, my bankroll finally reached $100,384! About 50% of my profits came from the tables, while the other 50% came from FPPs and Milestone Bonuses and other benefits and promotions like the Battle of the Planets Leaderboards (http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/promotions/battle/) and the Turbo Takedown (http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/promotions/turbo/) consecutive Cash promotion. I also won about $1,000 in cash games but that didn't have much of an impact. It was a much tougher challenge than I...more

Boku nears $80,000

Hi All Just a quick update on the latest progress on my challenge to let you know I have now cracked the 300,000 VPP mark and have unlocked my next Milestone bonus and collected $ 3,600. With that added to the rest of my winnings, my bankroll now stands at just under $79k. I am currently playing almost every day and anticipate that at my current pace I will reach my goal of $100,000 in May. I'll keep you all posted and speak to you again soon...more

Boku cruises past $60,000!

Some time has passed since the my last blog update and I thought it was about time I brought you all up to date with what I've been up to! I've now reached 200,000 VPP and received my first milestone bonus worth $3,400. Everything is also going quite well at the tables and I now already have $62,200. All this means I still have more than four months in which to earn the remaining $37,800 I need and, regardless to say, I am very confident that I will make it....more

Good start to 2010!

Hi everyone, The first week of the year is over and I am very happy with my start to 2010. Despite numerous down swings, my bankroll now stands at over $35,000. More importantly, I've already managed to earn over 45,000 VPP. As I've already mentioned in a previous post, this year my goal is to become a Supernova Elite, and for that I need to earn 1 million VPP! SNE has many advantages, with the FPPs earned on the way to achieving this VIP status worth around $50,000 alone. Plus,...more

A New Year of Poker!

Finally the New Year has begun and the VPP counter has been reset to zero! This means: get on your marks, the chase for SuperNova Elite is starting. I finished last year with a bankroll of $33,200, I just need another $66,800. My aim is to make 150,000 VPPs every month, which is roughly 12,000 SNGs -so there's a lot of playing to be done. If I manage to make an average profit of $2 and if I can maintain this pace, I'd be across the finish line in 2...more

I'm off to EPT Vilamoura!

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd give you all a quick update on what I've been up to! Recently I have been working on my book and some other things, but now I will start to concentrate more on poker again. In November, I will play the EPT event in Vilamoura. I will go there a week early to enjoy the late summer there (apparently in Portugal it's still 20°C at that time of the year). That means that in November I will miss another almost 2 weeks. If you...more

Another slow month!

Hi all, Time for another update, and unfortunately, it's not a great start - September was a total flop! At the beginning of the month, I played a few sessions and just couldn't win anything; I only just about managed to break even. Then I treated myself to a break for a few days to help me regain my focus and get back to playing my best. And so a few days later I was back ... and the session was a catastrophe from start to finish. In the first...more

A new month and hopefully a change in luck!

Hi all, As I'm sure you are all aware, I had lots of problems in August - I think that in the end I didn't even manage to play as often as every other day. And what's more, the last sessions didnt go very well and I only managed to break even over the past few days. But at least I have now got to almost $25,000. Some people commented that my challenge was not fair that I started at the Supernova level. That's why I will not use, or...more

Boku hits his stride once again

Hi Everyone, After a tough start to August, things have started to pick up over the last few days. I haven't quite found my former rhythm again yet as the sessions are still shorter, and not as regular as they used to be, but I am starting to get back into my stride. I played 1,200 SNGs this past week - I know that sounds like a lot, but the plan is to play at least 2,000 per week, so at the moment I'm falling well short of my target....more

Tough times in August!

Hi All, Looking to continue the good progress I have made so far with my challenge, I had big goals for August. I was aiming to play in some 10,000 player tournaments and hopefully take my profit to over the $30,000 mark. The first 4 days of the month went according to plan; I played my normal sessions and in 4 days I played just under 1,200 tournaments and turned over a profit of more than $4,000, taking my bankroll to $14,000. On days 5 and 6, a friend came...more

Boku hits $10,000

Hi All, I sat down at the tables the other day to start playing the $6.50 SNGs with my $690 bankroll. I also managed to fit in a few $7.70 and $3.30 games which had 180 runners, but no more than 5 tables. At least that was my plan! After only a few minutes at the tables, I became too impatient to just play the $6 games and included a few 45-man $12 tables to my play. I actually managed to win nothing, playing just under 200 $6 SNGs, but...more

Boku87 Begins

Hi All, So... yesterday I played two sessions on PokerStars to start building my bankroll. I started out grinding the $1 SNGs quite comfortably in the first session, and after a good run, I had roughly doubled my bankroll to $230. In my second session I used quite an aggressive approach to bankroll management and played the $3 SNGs (with a few $2 ones mixed in). Unfortunately for me I was punished almost straight away, suffering a minor downswing and had my entire bankroll on the tables. Before my first...more

Meet Boku87

Hi Everyone, My name is 'Boku87', a former Supernova Elite player on PokerStars, and I would like to introduce you all to my latest poker challenge. Within a year, I am going to try to turn $5 into $100,000! Recently, I completed a challenge to turn $100 into $10,000 in less than 2 weeks, but this new one will be a lot harder. Starting out in this challenge won't be easy, as proper bankroll management does not really allow you to play much with only $5. For SNG's you should...more
