Last Saturday in Berlin, PokerStars hosted their first German edition of the VIP Club Live series of parties for PokerStars players. Not one to miss a good party, together with my wife, I made my way to Düsseldorf airport early that Saturday morning for the one hour flight to Germany's capital which is about 250 miles away from my hometown of Cologne.
We checked into a nice Four-Star Hotel, the "Scandic Berlin" in Potsdamer Platz which was within walking distance from the Homebase Lounge where the party would start. Our hotel room was really neat and actually reminded me a bit of the remodelled GO rooms at the Flamingo in Las Vegas.
After spending the afternoon strolling through Berlin, I met up with Team Pro Jan Heitmann in the hotel lobby and made our way to the party together. The event turned out to be an incredible experience for me as the latest member of Team Online. I was asked to do interviews, take photos, and of course I got to meet so many fellow poker players.
Here's a cliff-notes version of how my night went down:
- Did so much talking and shouting that I woke up the next morning and had lost my voice.
- Saw a crazy Houla Hoop show and played some hilarious retro games like "Point Hunter" and "Kuhmelken" which involves milking a cow...seriously. Players with the highest score won prizes from the VIP Store:

The most enjoyable aspects of the party were the laid back atmosphere, the chance to finally put real faces to the screennames of players, and the feeling of being treated like a VIP when guided into an exclusive PokerStars VIP section of a massive nightclub, the Adagio, with a private whiskey tasting and an open bar.
I can only tell you that if a VIP Club Live comes to a city near you, it's an opportunity you don't want to miss. My wife and I had a real blast, and I can't wait till the next time they're back in Germany.
