Tevosov beats Kravchenko to RPS Kiev title

Thumbnail image for ps_news_thn.jpgThe first event of Season 2 of the PokerStars Russian Poker Series was staged in Kiev, and it was so nearly a big win for Team PokerStars Pro Alex Kravchenko. He was beaten heads-up by Garry Tevosov, 22, who won the title and $180,087. Kravchenko took $113,100 for second.

Ivan Demidov, another Russian Team PokerStars Pro player, also made the final table, but fell in ninth place for a $14,800 pay day.

A total of 265 players took part in the tournament, making for a great start to the new season of the RPS. Among them were new Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov from Ukraine, who is more used to playing in Europe and the US. "It was nice hearing the native language at the table. Unfortunately, I was unable to make any money but in the big poker game it's OK, one does not always win."

The next RPS event is scheduled for Riga in Latvia, with the main event running May 19 though 22. Details can be found on the Russian Poker Series site.
