EPT San Remo: Two struck out in level four
Things seemed to have calmed down a tad before it all started running bad for Team PokerStars Pro 'ElkY' Grospellier. After a bad bluff he was left with little more than a couple of grand which he pushed in with against Dutchman Ed de Haas. It was a good natured contest, pocket-threes for 'ElkY' against the A-9 of de Haas. The three’s held doubling up the Frenchman but only until the next hand.
He moved in; a fighting chance with pocket-eights, only to turn dog when his opponent showed pocket-jacks.
“I was short-stacked; I didn’t play so well. I was up to 16k and I tried to bluff the wrong guy. I just missed all the time. I went in with the eights against jacks.”
Fear not though, the dealer peeled off a flop showing an eight face up. But as she slid the cards across the board the jack sprung up like a traffic cop, stopping ElkY dead in his tracks and out in level four.
The comeback was quickly quashed...
“It was so cruel – the first card was an eight too! Painful...”
Sadly for Team PokerStars Pro it didn’t end there. As 'ElkY' walked back up the aisle towards the lobby another Team PokerStars Pro Lee Nelson was being dealt the same fate.
“I was down to 6k I went all the way back up to 10k, then down to 6k, up to 7550 and then this hand came up...” said Lee.
A raise under the gun saw Lee re-raise to 1,700. His opponent pushed leaving Lee to call with pocket queens, against A-K. The flop missed the over cards but the turn brought an ace to end the New Zealander's San Remo hopes.
Two Team PokerStars Pros out in as many minutes.
Meanwhile there a re a few observations from Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso...
