2007 World Series: Gamblers' Sunday
I got in an argument with somebody last night about whether today's $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship offered players a re-buy. I said it was a re-buy tournament. My adversary told me I was wrong. I hate it when people tell me I'm wrong. The only thing I hate worse is actually being wrong.
In this case, we were both right. Sort of.
Players in today's $10,000 PLO Championship are starting with $10,000 in chips AND a $10,000 re-buy chip. However, the players aren't shelling out another $10,000 to re-buy. So, in a word, whatever. They're gambling and I can still claim to be right.
A walk through the crowd shows the cream of the crop, pick of the litter, and cat's meow all in one place. Among the faces I saw in the field during the first session of play: Bill Chen, Greg Raymer, Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, Sigi Stockinger, Noah Boeken, John Duthie, Emad Tahtouh, and Humberto Brenes.
You may not have caught that, but those names represented a wide cross section of the world: USA, Canada, UK, Austria, the Netherlands, Australia, and Costa Rica.

Noah Boeken, looking to make good on my hopes for Day of the Boeken
In early action, Greg Raymer and Barry Greenstein are looking strong. However, this is Gamblers' Sunday, so you will see no predictions from me.
I hate being wrong.
