Things have been pretty slow here today, but there was just a flurry of activity in the PokerStars Hospitality suite as the players in event 22 went on their dinner break.
I was on the couch, working hard and talking with Pauly, when a young kid in a PokerStars shirt came over to us.
"Hey, is Otis here?" He said.
"No, Otis is off right now, but I'm writing for the blog this weekend." I said. "Is there something I can help you with?"
He laughed, and his friend said, "It figures that Otis isn't here the day you make it deep."
"Oh, are you playing today?" I said.
"Yeah, I'm in the 2K, and there are about 28 players left," he said. "Whenever I play, Brad [Otis' other, and by other I mean real, name] follows me around and I always go out early."
"Yeah, Otis is the kiss of death, " I said, knowing that I'd be able to show this to Otis when he gets back tomorrow, and put him on tilt.
"What's your name, man?" I said.
"It's Jason," he said.
"Hi, Jason," I said. "I'm Wil."
I grabbed my notebook. "I'll put you on the blog, and I'll follow you the rest of the day," I said. "What's your PokerStars name?"
"Strassa 2," he said.
Well, now it was my turn to choke on my gum and do a double take.
"Dude!" I said. "Strassa 2?! Really? I know you! Well, I don't know you, but I know you, you know?"
Woah. DejaVu.
He nodded a bit. I guess this is not the first time this has happened.
"I'll keep an eye on you after the break." I said.
I made some notes in my book, and I wanted to tell him to make sure he made the final table, to really tilt Otis, but he was out the door before I looked back up.
Barry Greenstein just came in. He's sitting on about 14,000 in today's limit hold'em event, and he told me a great story about the aces vs. aces hand yesterday, but I've got to go do Bluff radio right now, so I'll write that up when I get back.
